3 days post hysterectomy: Pain in kidney area
I just came home from the hospital yesterday and still have quite a bit of pain. They left my catheter in for almost 3 days because my blood pressure was so low they had to keep giving me fluids and I couldn't run to the bathroom every 5 minutes. So by yesterday I felt like I had to pee constantly and my abdomen was very sore (aside from surgery) my question is why I would have so much back pain or both sides of my spine? I am going to the bathroom a lot and the back pain is much worse when my bladder is full, I can barly make it to the bathroom. Does this sound normal for a person who had a catheter for 3 days or could this be a kidney infection?

Definitely get checked by your doctor.....better to be safe....
Whenever i have kidney pains, if they don't go away, i get checked out right away.
So definitely get checked for infection

Thanks I will call the doctor in the morning if its still no improvement. I'm getting so annoyed with the pain and not being able to move very well. I got the new pain pills and only took one just in case I have a reaction. So far it's fine, no itches or burning throat.
I'm not even sure what the symptoms of a UTI or kidney infection because I have never had one before.

Re: Pain in kidney area
Soemtimes you get a fever (more often when its a kidney infection but i have had fevers with bladder infections, not always though)
Frequency of urine, urgency, pain urinating, burning in the bladder feeling, cloudy urine.....these are signs of a bladder infection.
Sometimes when it gets into the kidneys, all you get is kidney pains...
Definitely if things don't get better then go to your doctor.
Hope you start feeling better
Take care
