2 weeks post-op today

Today I am 2 weeks post-op and 'thought' I was doing great. Woke up this am and was in no pain. Today was 'going' to be my first REAL day with NO pain meds. Went out for awhile (didn't drive and just sat and visited). Came home and my pain started. I have had orangy, pink drainage since surgery but went to the bathroom and I was bleeding.. BRIGHT RED. Since this afternoon the pain is still there and my lower back is hurting. The bleeding has stopped and am back to the pink, orangeish drainage. I called my doc but office closed early today so it will be tomorrow before I can talk to anyone. Is this normal? Could I be pushing myself too much? I have been doing dishes, laundry (but no lifting, my DH or DS's do that for me) and making the beds. Just light housework, nothing heavy or time consuming. Just was wondering if I should keep up what I am doing or take it a little easier (it is so hard to sit still). Thanks in advance! 's

Hi Kim

Sounds to me like you might be over-doing it a little bit. I did absolutely no housework (light included) during my first 2wks out. You may have possibly pulled a stitch causing the little bit of bleeding, and that is just my guess.

Let us know what your Dr says today.

Thanks for your reply, Doc's nurse called today and told me that Doc feels like I am not resting enough. Maybe on my feet too long. She told me if the pain and bleeding start bad again to make an appointment. I think I will try taking it alittle easier (although it is KILLING me). Thanks again! 's
