Surgury is soon....

I am having a TAH on January 2nd 2002. I am nervous about it because I am young only 27. I am about scared to death of the bowel prep....uck. But I wanted to Thank you for this website and how wonderful it is. I am not looking forward to being down I am a stay at home mom of a spirited 4 yr old, which keeps me busy... In fact I am not looking forward to any of it. My fears abound with the thought of hormonal fluctuations and sexual response after(since they are taking my cervix). If anyone has anything good or bad to say let me know. Thanks a bunch....

Angela, welcome! I'm glad you found this informative site! It's very normal to be scared. I had a TVH on 8-20-01 so my cervix went right along with my uterus. DH and I have noticed no difference sexually. Everything works just like it used to. I kept my ovaries....they were healthy so no reason to take them. I am 50 years young and I guess my ovaries are still secreting a little something good. Are your ovaries healthy? If so maybe you can keep yours. I am taking HRT and have had no problems at all. Enjoy all of the pull down menus. There is so much wonderful info here and it really helps.
