One day post op!!

cant type well cause of iv. HAD to tell u all about WONDERFUL experience. asked for something to calm me down right b 4 surgery. i was so scared an i was crying and i felt trapped!

THAT is the last thing i remember. the next thing i knew i was in my room. NOT recovery. my room! there was no excruciating pain...no nausea...nothing but a smiling husband.

it is the day after n i am walking n peeing on my own...my pain level has never been above 2.

i worried and freaked out for two weeks for nothing!!!

i want to tell u my whole story, but later, when i have 2 hands. also i'm a little shaky from meds.

i simply HAD to tell my sisters who are anxiously awaiting their date to calm down...really n truly... i feel wonderful...both b cuz its over n b cuz it was incredibly EASY!!!

Re: One day post op!!!!!

You have no idea how much I needed to read this! My LAVH is tomorrow morning at 7:30. I've been doing ok today. Spending most of my time getting ready to be a couch potato for a couple of weeks. The nerves were starting to get bad and then I read your post. This definitely calms me down. Thanks for sharing!

Re: One day post op!!!!!

Anyone who hasn't gone for their surgery yet, the best advice I can give you is to relax. I know that's easier said than done, but believe me, it is not going to be ANYWHERE as scary as you're thinking.

Honestly, I worked myself into quite a mess. I don't know if it was too much information or what...I certainly did enjoy reading about everybody's experiences, but I kinda think it was all too much for my brain to process of something. Because I really was, beyond scared. And that's not really like me. Of course it is major surgery, but with everything they have nowadays, there is little chance for anything to go wrong.

I voiced a lot of my concerns to the anesthesiologist right b4 surgery and he sort of gruffly told me there was not a chance in france of any of that happening.

One of my big concerns (among many) was that I would wake up in excruciating pain and no one would be able to control it. He told me in no uncertain terms that that would NOT happen. And frankly, I have YET to fell any intense pain at all.

Yes, I can definitely tell that I've had surgery, but I wear the binder 24/7 and it has helped immensely. Dare I say even easier than my cesarians...! With both, I didn't have a binder til I went home. Now with my bff (the binder) I can walk, move around in bed SLEEP ON MY SIDE!! and go to the bathroom with no problems whatsoever.

So you sisters who haven't gone yet, know that this is bigbaby aka topchef talking here and I really feel like I did myself a disservice by freaking out so much beforehand.

The doctors are well prepared for ANYTHING and the nurses are well-versed in all things comforting for a post-op patient.

Take a deep breath and be prepared for me to say "I told you so" right after your surgery.

Good luck to all of you...soon you'll be on the other side with me!
