Recovery similar to other laps?

I am curious as to whether anyone can answer if the post-op is similar to other laporscopic surgeries. I have had four: ovarian cyst removal, 2 accessory spleens removed, exploratory with appendectomy, and a tubal ligationin conjunction with an endometrial ablation. I have also had 5 previous colonoscopies. I am "concerned" about the post-op gas everyone is talking about. Why are the bowels so gassy? I know, a lot of questions, but I don't have my pre-op for 3 more weeks and inquiring minds want to know...

Thanks in advance for any help, I know everyone heals differently, just wasn't sure what others experiences have been with multiple laps.

Re: Recovery similar to other laps?

I had a lap, a lap assisted hysterectomy, and then another lap.

For me, the last lap was the worst as my surgeon was more meticulous, the hysterectomy the easiest.

I didn't experience much of the gas issues that many share here on the site. In fact, I had no problems at all following my hysterectomy.

So, you could do better than with your prior surgeries, or you could do worse! There really is no way to know for sure!

Make sure to take a list of all of your questions and concerns to your appointment!

Re: Recovery similar to other laps?

Thanks Weiser, I have thankfully done well with all my laps, but we shall see. Hearing from you has helped a lot. See my Doc on the 7th, have a list of prepared questions. Ironically I work at a different OB/GYN practice (new job for me) and I have asked a couple of the docs about it. They do not yet perform LTH yet, but they have been helpful and very understanding of my "worries".
