Producing milk...oh boy

Hi ladies,
I have now developed milk...diagnosed cause is complication due to recent surgical chest trauma. I have no ovaries as of 8 weeks ago and am taking 2mg Estrace. At first the surgeon mentioned ovulation timing but after remembering my ovaries were out, he said it must be from residual in the tissues, and that hopefully it will soon run its course to avoid another surgery.

Can anyone help me understand how the estrogen I'm taking might effect milk production? I feel very foolish but for some reason I thought ovaries were necessary for milk production...?

Amazing! I was just reading about increased prolactin today for another sister here and learned about chest trauma being a cause.

There have been other women here who have had some milk production when on estrogen so you aren't alone! I hope it resolves itself for you.

I haven't had this particular problem myself, but have seen quite a few posts around here on the topic. You can do search and use lactate or lactation as your keyword and you should find some more helpful info.

I also never knew (until this happened) that chest trauma can stimulate production.
My other doc previously gave me a script for test creme and then this happened, so I'm gonna wait before starting that hormone...or, actually, maybe the test creme would help the situation. I'm dazed and confused over all this, lol.
