Re: hysterectomy for prolapse

Had my surgery yesterday!
Was scheduled for anterior and posterior repairs with TOT mid-urethral sling and TVH. But once my doc got the prolapsed uterus out, my bladder went back to the right spot on its own so she was able to skip the anterior repair! The sling should fix any SUI issues remaining.
I'm still in hospital but hope to be discharged today. Packing and catheter should be removed in about 20 minutes.
Staying on top of meds is truly key so far. I find that once I start getting that achy "period" feeling it gets worse quickly, but taking pain meds at the start of that feeling keeps it under control. They have me on Percocet, torridol and something else, can't remember what.
Hope all is well with all of my prolapse sisters!

Amazing. Great news. This has been a very doable surgery for me so far also. I am a week out and off pain meds. It took me about a week to be able to pee like it was second nature. I really had to concentrate to pee. My robotic hysterectomy incisions look great very little bruising at all. I can tell they will not even be noticeable. Sitting yesterday was a lot easier. I had a lot more done vaginally than I thought he would do, so that seems to be taking the longest to heal.
I went home with Percocet. It was nice for the pain and some great sleep, but that stuff made me so nauseous, itchy, and ill. So glad to be of it. Going to venture into town with mom ans the kids today. Have been doing nothing but resting and walking. Appetite picked up yesterday, but plan to keep it in check. Keep us updated, so cool to here how others are doing. Oh, the bowels are not back to normal yet.
