chopped off my hair today...

I decided with surgery coming soon It would be easier. Ive had waist length, baby fine and thus thin hair since about junior high (im 49). Never cut anything but the bangs in all those years. With already thin hair that flys and tangles at a breeze and seems somehow get into every thing and also hearing that the anesthesia may make that worse... figured that now was the time. The look of it is hard to get used to and I dont know yet if I like it or not but I do like the feel of it so Im happy. Guess Ill just have to avoid mirrors for awhile until I get used to it. One more change for the new healther life where my body wont be fussing, complaining, and screaming at me. Thought of joking with family when I see them, that it was cut in mourning, but no mourning there! Bring it on!

I also got my hair cut a few days before my hyster. It was not as long as yours but I thought a trim would be a good idea, to simplify is always a good idea. Hope you like it when you get used to it.

Never even thought of what would I do with my hair! I guess I will have my 7yr old put it up in a pony tail every morning like she tells me she prefers me to do her hair. She will get a lot of practice! I have older daughters but the youngest would love that responsibility to help mommy.

I thought I would have my daughter braid mine for me. I don't want to wake up to a ton of snarls!

starchild,

A lot of us did the same thing before our hysts. It can be a very freeing experience. Since my hyst I have actually had my hair cut shorter and I love it. My hair was never as long as yours but it was down my back, now it is short and spiked. My husband told me that when I got it cut I took years off my face.

Best of luck on your pending hyst.
