Keep Ovaries or not....

Here's another differing opinion. Do what your "gut" tells you to do. I felt very strongly that I would keep my ovaries. I discussed with the doctor and he agreed pending everything looking ok. The day prior to my surgery a my neighbor was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She had a hyster and kept her ovaries 15 years ago. I decided the morning of surgery to have them taken. Even had to sign a new surgical permit, My husband also had to sign it cause I had already been given some medication. For a few days I second guessed myself, which I think is normal either way you choose. Since my surgery on May 12th I have heard of 3 more local women with newly diagnosed ovarian cancer. The stats I've read say around 1-2 % of women get ovarian cancer. Which is pretty low odds. I just decided to drop my odds. This was MY Choice and I will live with it. Don't let anyone tell you what to do. It has to feel right to you. I have no family history of breast cancer so my doctor says the HRT is safe for me as long as nothing changes.
I also had terrible PMS, migraines 2-3 days prior to my period and severe pain at time of ovulation. I can't say I will miss those things. I did notice that during ovulation I had a huge boost in my libido. I will probably miss that. I'm only 10 days into HRT and have doubled the dose due to insomnia, hot flashes at night and raw emotions. But hopefully the balancing act won't take too long with the hormones.
Weigh your options, pray/meditate about it and listen to your inner voice. Whatever you choose is the right decision for you.

I'm keeping mine, no history of ovarian cancer in my family. But my mother is a breast cancer survivor, and HRT is out for me. I'm 46 and will having LSH soon.
