Hospital bill came...

I also got my bill this week.. I said HOLY CRAP!!!! It was 29k. BUT, my doctor negotiates better prices for his surgeries or he will take them to a different hospital. So I got 18k knocked off. Insurance will pay all but $269 which is a blessing, but it is only the hospital bill. I went in for surgery on Tues the 24th and did not leave until the 26th. I feel your pain ladies!!! Only problem is I am the sole supporter in my family, and I went back to work at 2 weeks post-op. I am exhausted everyday when I get home.

I know the feeling. I am waiting to see how much my ins paid since with the contracted rates it is lower than the actual amt the hospital bills for. But without even staying overnight mine was in total with the hospital, surgeons and anesthesia, and lab bills, over a years worth of mortgage payments without ins.

And as other people have said, most hospitals will take payments as long as you make them on time so you don't have to worry about all the interest on your cc.

^Hee hee.

What a great idea...on the itemized bills. I will do that. I should...

My sister just got her tubes tied, and had a $1500 charge for something that was done to her bladder, and not covered (????). She's nuts for not calling to find out what the heck that was and getting it taken off. Nope, she just agreed to make payments on it. I would not have just bowed over like that.

But, that's a great example.

Hospital bill came...

So far I have not received any bills. I met my $250.00 deductible with my pelvic ultrasound and mammogram. When I did my pre op visit, they told me my insurance would cover 3 days. They told me what my portion would be, insurance pays 80%. They told me if I paid in full they would give me a discount and I would only have to pay $373.00. So I paid the $373 and the $250 for a total so far of $623.00. I hope that is all.

Hospital bill came...

I'm happy to be here in Denmark, it was totally free. In the US, I'd right now be starting the long battle of the billing....<oops! name of insurance company removed per site guidelines!> still owes me $1,000 that they refuse to pay me.

Hospital bill came...

I called the hospital to set up payments and they told me I had to pay $432/month and the total amount had to be paid within six months. I was like, no way. So they are having me apply for medicaid which I know I'm not eligible for but they require a denial letter from medicaid. Then I have to fill out paperwork for charitable help. And they don't want to set up the payment plan until all this paperwork is done. It can't be simple, can it!!??
