On my 6 wk recovery ...

well I never imagined when I was a girl of 17 yrs that one day I would have to have this surgery and have a vital part of me forever gone...but with that said I have been feeling much better...I am off my bp meds and on no meds at all...I have lost 12 lbs since the surgery...and feel no pain when being intimate with my DH.... . So, the Doc told me my uterus was 6 times of a normal one...like a bowling ball! Phew am I ever happy to be rid of that ? YESSSSS I have felt a bit of sadness for the "home" that once "housed" all of my 4 babies (now grownups) is no more...yet I look forward to this new "ME" with vigor and wonder and gratefulness for a chance to live pain-free and med free My incision has healed nicely although a piece of extra skin still lays in a very tiny part ...which the Doc told me they will take care of with laser later on down the road....but if this is all I have to endure it is minor compared to all the years of suffering I had endured with such large fibriods and extreme heavy periods...which sometimes I got twice a month for 10 days or more! Ty HysterSisters for being so supportive and for this wonderful site! I want to wish you all a speedy and quick recovery and keep smiling...Life only gets better after this!

you are most welcome...and ty...I must say that I fought hard and long against having this hysterectomy done but I am glad I had it .....but I think keeping my ovaries and cervix has helped...especially since I'm such a baby when it comes to taking any kind of meds....and I just couldn't see myself doing the Hrt therapy....when the time does come that I finally need em I will opt for herbs and such....hugs to you too Sister! wishing you the best also Candy
