Surgery Question

I read on here about bladder, bowel repair etc. This is probably a dumb question but, I would like to know that when I have my hyst if by chance the gyn finds problems with bladder, bowel does the gynecologist do repairs to this as well?

I have suffered since I was a teenager with my bowels (constipation& straining) and was told about six months ago that I have diverticula (bulges in the colon)
Don't know if maybe these bulges can be removed or not. Doctor says I need to eat more fiber in my diet and drink Metamucil. The Metamucil is nasty! I have also had in the past symptoms of a burning sensation in my vagina area
mainly when sitting and frequent urination with that bloated stomach feeling especially after
my period. I have always been checked for UTI and bladder infection but everything comes back clear.

Could the bladder pressure I feel be related to growing fibroids, cysts, possible endo? Any ideas?

Thanks.

Scheduled for SAH/BSO on Feb 3 for growing fibroids, cysts and possible endo.

Surgery Question

Hi!

The gyn might be able to correct something if they find it - at least that is what I've read here.

I suggest doing what I did. I've had urinary urgency and incontinence most of my life. What I did was to consult a uro to see if the problem could be fixed while I was open for the hyst.
I even postponed surgery so I could see one.

Turns out he decided it was best to see if things improved after surgery. He is conservative and is trying meds before surgery.

In your case I would see a uro and gastro before you undergo surgery. If you need bowel or bladder surgery, they can coordinate with your gyn and do their surgery at the same time.

I personally would want the specific specialist in the field to correct the problem. I've read on this site that some women regret having a gyn do a uro's job. Just my humble opinion.
