Is there much post-op bleeding?

I had LAVH w/ BSO on May 14. I had spotting for about two 1/2 weeks. When I asked the dr. about it at the two week followup she was not surprised and said if it was still bleeding at the six week followup then she would do something to stop it. She also said the vaginal cuff takes quite awhile to heal so there was nothing to worry about. So I didn't worry about it after that and it stopped a few days later anyway.

Is there much post-op bleeding?

I had an LAVH/BSO on May 25. I bled a fair amount the first day and a half, then spotted for a couple of days. Since then NOTHING! They gave me pads in the castle, which was good, cause it hadn't even occurred to me that I might need them. I'm going to wait a few more weeks to make sure there's no bleeding when the stitches finally dissolve, and then I'm either going to give all my supplies to someone or start a bonfire!

Still have light discharge

LAVH and still spotting one month later. Had to go to the store and buy my second box of pads. Not happy bout that but I hear that it happens to some.
My doctor doesn't seem very concerned about it. So, I'm not either.
Blessings,
B.

Is there much post-op bleeding?

I am so glad you asked this question. I was about to post on the post op board. My surgery was June 6 for TAH/BSO so I have been spotting since. It's now day 16. I refuse to use a pad, even a mini one. I spot on old undies and wash them out. It's barely a watery pink stain about 4 times a day. It's seems to be getting darker. Two of my good friends had a very brownish watery discharge come out exactly one month after their TAH/BSO's. One other friend spotted for 6 weeks! I am #11 of all my variety of friends to have this surgery! I'll have to ask the rest of them! Good luck!!

Is there much post-op bleeding?

I had a TVH/BSO - No bleeding - no spotting - nothing!!! They kept a pad on me for the first couple of hours after the surgery(just in case), but nothing ever showed on it!

Thanks to all!

Thanks everyone for posting these replies, I had no idea what to expect after the procedure, I am so conditioned to buying packs and packs of heavy duty towels every month I did the same for my hospital stay and I JUST CANNOT BELIEVE that I won't have heavy bleeding for weeks and weeks after! I cannot begin to imagine a life without this curse - freedom hurrah! Hence my post on what to do with our old towels etc, I have bought so many!

POST-OP BLEEDING

I had a TVH on 6/12. There was some bleeding while I was in hospital, but nurses commented that it wasn't much. Since I've been home..just lt. pink spotting.(except for the day I over-did it) then it was more bloody looking. feet up/rest/drinks fluids. That's the best advice...don't wait for your body to tell you

Post-op bleeding

Karen - I had a TAH on 5/22 and I can report that I had minimal bleeding, actually spotting if you will. Not sure about the first date, I was sedated most of the time. But the next day, I really needed to wear just a panty-liner and that was the end of it. So in my case, there really was next to nothing. And yes, it is great not to be bleeding all over everything. I was tempted to hold a party to throw them all away, but of course I couldn't..........I still have a daughter who uses them. I just don't open that closet door anymore. Yippee!

Is there much post-op bleeding?

I can't believe this - dare I go and buy regular size towels or panty liners to take to the castle? I have bought the largest night-time pads I can find to take with me, I have never ever been able to buy regular pads - what a treat but I dare not believe it! YIPPEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

For me....

For me I only spotted moderately for 2 days post op after my TAH. I have had some light spotting off and on over the last few weeks as the internal stiches are dissolving but nothing heavy enough to warrant a pad.
