34 days 2 go, getting nervous (kids mentioned)

Well I have my LOA paperwork done. Starting to get things ready at home as well. I just bought a cookbook that has recipes for fixing a months worth of frozen meals in one day and I bought a slow cooker recipe book. I will let you know how this goes.

I guess maybe the worst part will be the wait. I'm nervous about my insurance cancelling at the last minute too. I see my doc on Wed. for my last Lupron injection. The insurance had to approve the injections and they did, but they also have to know that the injections are used to prepare for surgery. I've had 3 different insurance companies and 3 different docs since 2005 mainly because of moving and changing jobs. My current insurance carriers are more than happy to request info. from them. They can't really do the preexisting condition because I've had continuous coverage with no lapse in insurance since 1997. Keeping my fingers crossed for no bumps in the road.

Any questions I should ask my doc on Wed since it's probably the last time I'll see him before my surgery? I'm not at all that nervous about the surgery itself. Although I had a goofy surgery dream last night. LOL. I had a lap chole last year so I know what that feels like and I've had 2 c-sections. During my one c-section I had complications. I guess my only issue is what are the odds he'll have to convert to an abdominal hyst. given my c/s and lap chole. I will ask him this on Wed. I have no idea how long I'll be off of work. He told me plan on 6 wks, but I could be back as soon as 2 wks. He said if it were an LSH than I would go home 6-24 hrs. after. When I had my lap chole I stayed the night, but I had a hard time coming out of anesthesia...I was completely snowed. By 10 pm that night I was much better and could've gone home though....that was approx. 9 hrs. after my surgery. I was suprised how much my energy was zapped and other than the abdominal pulling I was OK. I never experienced the "gas" pain everyone talks about. I did have gas pains with my c-sections though. I've also never had to do a bowel prep. I'm not looking forward to it. I have everything ready for that too.

Also my husband isn't planning on taking any time off of work either. My surgery is on a Friday and he'll be off Fri-Sun. I have 3 kids 9,6, & 5. All girls! They'll amazingly pretty self-sufficient and I've already warned them.

Thanks for letting me vent!

It sounds like you're doing a great job preparing! I hope insurance goes very smoothly and you don't have any bumps.

For questions, don't forget about the list of questions for your pre-op appointment in Pre-Op Articles. There's a good list there that you can build on.

I hope you have an easy wait and an uneventful surgery! Hang in there!

s, Deb
