My doc never mentioned a cleanse. Should I be concerned?

I have an LAVH on the 30th. My doc never mentioned a cleanse. Should I be concerned? Won't hear from the hospital till the day before.

Re: My doc never mentioned a cleanse. Should I be concerned?

I did not have to do a cleanse or bowel prep. I was given a scrub to use and was not allowed to eat or drink after midnight.

Good luck!

Re: My doc never mentioned a cleanse. Should I be concerned?

I'm going the day before you and I don't have to do a cleanse either. I was told:
1) Clear liquids only after 5 PM the day before.
2) Nothing to eat or drink after midnight.
3) Regular prescription meds and a Gravol (for the bus ride) the morning of.
4) No make-up or scented products, including deodorant and shampoo.

Re: My doc never mentioned a cleanse. Should I be concerned?

I had no cleanse before my hysterectomy. I was given the same instructions as SurprisedInNB. I was also told to take a shower the night before surgery and the morning of using Anti Bacterial soap.

You'll be just fine, LitlBitDee! It'll be over before you know it and youl'l be SO glad you got this done. <3 <3

I had to do a colon prep but that was because my endo had glued my uterus to my colon so they wanted to make sure i was clean in case they cut through while removing it. <3

Re: My doc never mentioned a cleanse. Should I be concerned?

Hey LitlBitDee!
Just like Illinois 1973 said, You will be just fine and it will be over before you know it. It's natural to be anxious before surgery and I was too, but just remember that you are in the best of hands and they know what they're doing. So wishing you lots of hugs and happy healings. Take care and looking forward to your post-op post!
Hugs Galore, xoxo.
