Got home today, couple of questions

Sorry in advance for any errors in this post. I'm still incredibly tired! Also sorry if this is in the wrong section! I just have those horrible shooting pains in my ribs from Gas, and I completely forgot to ask the nurse before I left if I could take Gas X as soon as I got home. I took a nap thinking it would go away, only to be sitting here at 1am thinking Oh no WHY!? I'm only taking oxycodone and ibuprofen for now.

Also did this happen to anyone before? A few hours after my surgery I began to experience swelling in my arms, hands, and legs. Then I had the weird numb tingling sensation all the way until, about an hour ago. The nurse said it was just because the anesthesia was wearing off and it does odd things.

Thanks wonderful ladies in advance for any help at all!

Re: Got home today, couple of questions

I also became so numb it frightened me. I felt paralized, scary. I have been home for two weeks now and my left leg still goes numb from time to time. My arm was so swollen they had to take the IV out. I also had to wear those leg pump things longer. They told me also it was due to the anesthesia.

I use the chewable gasX. I took it three times a day. The nurse at the hospital said this would help a lot with the gas pains and she was so right. I also recommend taking a stool softner because you may regret it later. I did not start the stool softeners the day I came home I waited like a week and did not have a BM for 13 days UGH the pain was worse than childbirth. After the first week I now take the gasX twice a day and 1 stool softener. I started with 2 because I was in so much pain. My Dr.said take 3 a day but I did not want to become dependant on these. I have read that sometimes your body gets confused and then you have to take them just to go. My Dr. did say your body can depend on softeners from time to time but the risk is low. Good luck and make sure you drink plenty of water. At least 3 bottles a day minimum.
