Gall bladder surgery, anyone?

I had pain attacks for more than a year and a half before I was diagnosed as having a bad gall bladder. Because I had a history of endo, my general practitioner just assumed the abdominal discomfort I was having was caused by that.

One day I went in for a checkup, and my regular doc was booked so I saw one of the new partners. Talked to her for THREE MINUTES and she's like, "Oh, it's your gall bladder. Had the same thing myself two years ago." Immediately scheduled me for surgery, and within two weeks, that nasty fella was out of there.

Note: I was scheduled for surgery on a Wednesday. The Friday night before, I was alone at the house when I had an attack. Lying curled up on the kitchen floor, I thought, "I wonder how bad you have to hurt before you die?"

I should have called 911, and if I ever feel like that again, I won't hesitate. When the doctor opened me up, the gall bladder was full of gangriene. Yes, Virginia, you can die from that. I was lucky, and survived to enjoy my TAH/BSO two years later!

Good grief - - I hope the docs are done. I'm running out of organs to harvest!
