TAH & Anal Fissure/Hemmorid Repair at the same time?
I'm trying to decide what to do first.
A TAH is planned for a very uncomfortable enlarged uterus and large fibroids. I'm also plagued with a chronic anal fissure and some moderate hemmoroids (back-end). I've consulted with three Dr's.
1. One says take care of back-end first, wait a few months then do TAH.
2. Two says do TAH - it may relieve a lot of the symptoms of the back end and then do back-end if needed.
3. Three says do it all one time under general anesthesia and one recovery time with heavy pain meds.
I know I've probably put myself in the jam because I've tolerated the discomfort for a long time and allowed things to get worse.
Has anyone done these procedures at the same time? How did it go? Any other recommendations? I must have a fairly good toleration of pain (deliverd all three babies naturally).
Please share any variations of your experience ---- THANK YOU!!!

TAH & Anal Fissure/Hemmorid Repair at the same time?
I have not had a hyst yet but I have had a hemorrhoidectomy. It in itself is very painful and resticting. Something you may want to consider is after having mine, my post op instructions where to either do a sits bath after each BM or sit in a warm tub of water. Also note that I was given mineral oil and something else to make sure I went to the bathroom daily.
Condsider do you think you would be able to give yourself proper healing and care for both things at once. I'm don't know from first hand experience but from what I've read here I don't think you would want both at the same time.
Just to let you know after having those 5 removed I have about 6 now but they are not as bothersome. Surely haven't been enough to send me back for surgery on them again.
Good Luck!

TAH/fissure/hemorrhoid
I have had a TAH/BSO and a fissue repair/hemorrhoidectomy at different times. It might be too much to deal with at the same time. I don't remember the fissure repair being that big of a deal, but the hemorrhoidectomy pain was burning and intense. I found that even with cream and pain pills, I just had to wait for it all to subside. I could not walk much or sit comfortably for a couple of weeks. This was several years ago.
Now I am one week post TAH/BSO, and it is a bit hard to move around and watch my diet, take stool softeners, etc. If I had to add the pain and aftercare of a hemorrhoidectomy right now, I think it would be too much. I tolerate pain fairly well, but it just seems like a lot to me.

Re: Help! Any experience with TAH & Anal Fissure/Hemmorid Repair at the same time?

Ok I had a lot of problems with my back end since having my second son. First I went on fiber to help with my bowels. then i developed a fisure that would not go away. I went on for years with this problem with hemmorrids. So finally my doctor did a spinterotomy that surgey wasn't bad I was down for a week . Then during a return he found a polp and of course this was cause for a colonospy. First colonospy he removed several. then I had to go back every 3 years then they removed more and they found a fibroid tumor in my colon also. I was in my middle thirtys when this all happened then I had to do a hemorridectomy. That was painful also. But I don't reget any of them. But now I have to get a TH because they found fibroid tumors on my uterus. For the back end surgey it was same daysurgery. I was out for about 2weeks it was up to me when I went back to work. Oh I am 40 years old now.

anal fissure surgery
I am new here but wanted to share my story. My hysterectomy was in 2001 and after 2 kids eons ago and my hysterectomy--- life was perfect until I got a fissure.
I am 3 days out from having surgery for anal fissure (or as I say-- problems with my area 51). I went through about 5 months of pain with every bowel movement and it got to the point where I just stopped going as the pain was just to much. I had two kids and the hysterectomy and this pain was at least 10x's the pain of both of those, but I was embarrassed to talk about it and even more embarrassed to have my area 51 looked at. As you all know here, having a hysterectomy means that everyone including the janitor has visited my area 51 and I have/had a huge anxiety about any doctors (or janitors LOL) going there. Last weekend my family heard me in the bathroom crying and said enough is enough and I called my gp again. In the past months I was the perfect patient--- sitz baths 2-3 times daily, lidocaine ointment on my area 51 prior to a bowel movement and nitroglicerin (sorry about spelling) to reduce the spasms. NOTHING WORKED and I truly thought that death would be better than pooping broken glass pieces 1-3 times daily and then the hours of pain that followed from the spasms. I went to the doctor and said I can't imagine another day of this torture and cried my eyes out when he again wanted to view my area 51 (I guess pictures of area 51 are not allowed so many re-check fly by's are required). My surgery was last Friday---- even thou I am a bit sore from the spyntorectomy (again, bad speller) the pain to poop was instantly GONE!!!!! I am still on bed rest and I was put completely out for the surgery and I do sitz baths still now BUT...
IF I KNEW THAT THE SURGERY WOULD HAVE INSTANTLY FIXED MY 5 MONTH NIGHTMARE, I WOULD HAVE DONE IT SOONER.
I don't think people (the doc's and nurses we share our painful story with) understand what life is like when your bottom doesn't work correctly and even thou my children are 14 and 16, it happened due to a medication change that caused constipation, which inturn ripped me. Sorry to be graphic but I so feel all of your pain and I am so glad that I kept going back to the doc (even thou it is embarrassing) because I was eventially going to explode if something wasn't done.
now the question of which surgery first--- I had a vaginal hysterectomy and was in the hospital for 1 week and with drugs didn't remember much, except that I couldn't go home until I had my first bowel movement----- now, if my fissure was still there and I was not going to be released until I pooped, I would still be in the hospital today 6 years later. I had the muscle release for my fissure which has a very high success rate ( I think 90% or more) where as other treatments (botox, nitroglicerin etc) have a much lower rate of success, like 40 or 60%. That difference in success rate was a no brainer as I don't EVER want that fissure pain again.
Hope this helps.

TAH & Anal Fissure/Hemmorid Repair at the same time?
Do not have them both done at the same time. I had my hyst 2/16 and my hemorrhoidectomy on 6/5. The hemorrhoidectomy is the most painful experience I have ever had. The pain and pressure are unbearable and I don't think they make a medicine strong enough. I am 1 week out and my bms feel like I am passing large pieces of glass. I cannot cough with extreme pain. I know once I recover I will have a different perspective but I don't think I would ever recommend having it done with the hyst.
As far as which one I would do first: I go with whatever is causing me the most pain. If you have an enlarged uterus you may want that removed. Whatever you do you want to make sure you prevent your rhoids from coming back. Fiber, Fiber and more Fiber.
