Still Waiting

Well Ladies, here it is a week and still have not heard back from the specialist. I was put on Danazol on August 12th and had a bad reaction to taking that pill. I took it for 10 days and had most of the side effects. I called the dr. office and was told she will call me..I call the office every day 3-5 times and always talk to the secretary (she is very nice, oh so is the dr.). I told the secretary that I need to talk with the dr. due to the fact that since August 12th I have gained 20 lbs (I am a life time member of WW, so this is a terrible shock to me). I was actually asked at work today how far along I was (telling this gentleman and lady that I was not pregnant but ill), I asked how far they thought I might have been, 6 months was the answer (I can tell that there was weight gain by the feel of the work clothes and the scale numbers always increasing ). I have an appointment to see the dr. September 9th (that seems to be the earliest). The dr. thinks that I have Adenomysis, if that is the case then why am I balloning up, I am not eating outside what I have always been eating being on WW. I am very depressed due to this weight gain and the pain is still there even stronger now when I feel the need to go to the bathroom. I drink plenty of water but don't get as much out....well still sitting here waiting for the phone to ring. I know that she did mention that if Danazol did not work then we are going in for a hysterectomy.

I am feeling very alone, I feel like there are more people out there that might need this dr.'s attention more than me. I am very upset...thanks for listening

Hi Jam

I'm sorry your doctor hasn't gotten back to you. It's terrible waiting for a call that doesn't come. I never took Danazol, but I did use to have the extreme bloating prior to my period; also to the point I looked like I was expecting. My doctor gave me a mild diuretic, which helped a little bit. I know it's uncomfortable & just wanted to send you a

Maybe you should look for another doctor. Getting a second opinion is always a good idea anyway.
Hope you find out something soon.

Take care

Thank you Sistabeth for your response, this is actually my 3 specialist involved with my problem. I noticed if I don't eat or drink I have no bloating but get lightheaded and dizzy (so I eat and drink, often and only a little)...I actually did hear back from the dr. on Sept. 2, I am going to see her on the 9th to evaluate my situation and find out what the next step is.

I know that here in Canada it takes for ever to get in to see a specialist and now family doctors are getting so that it takes weeks to get in to see them too.

I think I was more frustrated that I have been suffering with this problem for over a year (of the pain)....I am hoping that this talk on the 9th will give me some relief, this has taken a toll on me (spirits are down...feeling like there is no where to turn), my husband (very supportive--would never turn him in for a newer model), my kids (especially my daughter--don't want her to go through any of this)...well until next week when I can fill you in.

I hope you can get some answers. Can you go ahead and make all of the other appointments with the other docs so that no more time is wasted. From what I hear medical treatment in Canada is very difficult. Dont give up!!!

I am not giving up. I am going in the the 9th (tomorrow) and making sure I was out of that office with the answers I need. I am sitting here at work right now with painful cramps, very nauseated and all in all not feeling well. I am hoping (sounds real dumb) that I feel this way tomorrow in the doctor's office...because I am miserable.

I know that I am not the only one in this boat, that there are way too many woman going through this problem or similar problem. We should be getting looked at and treat a lot faster than we are.

There are no more specialists or doctors to see this is my last hope at getting some sort of answers and solutions. I have been dealing with this for more than 2 years, the pain, periods and mood swings and now feeling abandoned by my medical profession.

Thank you for your notes and words of wisdom.

Well tomorrow is the big test day. I am scheduled for my MRI and ultrasound and am a little nervous. I have been prescribed relaxants for the MRI due to closterphobia, so I will be really, really relaxed. I am to spend 11 am -12 pm in the MRI...then I have to drink plenty of fluids for my 1 pm Ultrasound....boy I hope I can do it.

Good luck with your tests (((Jam))). I hope you feel relaxed during your MRI. When I've had them, they gave me headphones to listen to the radio. Hopefully that will be an option to you also. That helped pass the time and drowned out the clanking of the machine.

I hope your tests provide some answers for you. Hang in there.

Well, the tests are all done, now have to wait until Monday, Sept. 26th to see the specialist. The pills they gave me to relax me for the MRI were great, I had to take 3 (tiny) pills 20 min. prior to the appointment...well by the time I layed down for the MRI....I went to sleep. Lucky my hubby was there with me because the next thing I rememeber was waking up Saturday morning at home, I jumped with a start. The first thought was "Did I do all the tests", well hubby says yes, what a relief. I don't even remember getting dressed to leave the hospital, the ride home, even getting changed to go to bed (real good stuff).

Well today I wake up feeling crumby, I feel like I have hot fluid running (slowly) down my lower right side of my abdoman, and there is a lot of leg pressure on the right side, like something heavy sitting on my pelvic bone. Well popped a few more Tylenol #3s and ready to complete my day, also noticed that by about 11 am I start to feel very tired. Well, so much for grow old gracefully.

Well Ladies, finished with the tests and am waiting to hear from the hospital as to when my surgery date is. I have adenomysis and also kidney stones....I am going in for both surgeries at once. I am looking forward to it and will update my surgery date once I find out definitely. I do know it will be in October 2005, my gyno. does not want to wait any longer, she says I have suffered enough.

Thank you all for your support.
