Hey y'all

Im scheduled for davinci tomorrow. In the middle of the bowel prep. Such fun. I plan to return to work Monday. Yes, I know, but I don't have to move much at my job, and I really can't miss too much. I'm wondering several things:
How will I know the bowel prep is finished?
I had my gallbladder (Lap) out two years ago. If you have had this too, how did the pain and recovery time compare?
Thanks!!

Re: Hey y'all

Returning to work Monday is extremely ambitious. Try to remember that you still have a great deal of healing to do and take it as easy as possible.

Re: Hey y'all

I had Davinici surgery last Wednesday and only had my uterus removed. I came home from the hospital the same day. I didn't leave the house until today (7 days later) when I went to lunch and the grocery store, and I was exhausted. I walk really slow at this point. Since my surgery, I've been walking a total of several hours a day, originally to get the CO2 gas out (that was the most painful part to me!) and now to try to get my bowels to work normally (still not quite there yet).

If you have an office job, I could see trying to go back to work on Monday. Just be prepared to be slow and to get home and sleep.

The bowel prep was also not my favorite part. You will know when it's done because there will be nothing left. Heh.

Good luck tomorrow!

Re: Hey y'all

Hi there,

I also had gall bladder surgery (they removed my appendix and an ovarian cyst as well) via lap. I've had 3 other laps for various issues with my ovaries and 2 C sections. All of the surgeries were exactly the same as far as recovery, so I am guessing this will be similar as well, provided it's a total lap procedure. I'm also scheduled tomorrow, but they are removing my ovaries as well. I'm leaving in my cervix.

I have to start bowel prep in a few hours too. I only was told to use one Fleet Enema (joy) but I'm starting to wonder if that's better than the stuff you drink!?! That doesn't sound too fun and it takes forever! With a Fleet, I think it takes about 10 minutes and you get it all over with fast! :P

I'm also being ambitious and going back to work on Tuesday. I work from home 3 days a week, so going back to work for me just involves laying in bed with a laptop and responding to emails, or being on business calls over the phone. I'm not actually going into the office for at least 2 weeks or more if I feel I need to stay home longer.

Is it bad that I'm stuffing food in my face because my surgery is scheduled for late afternoon and I know I'm going to be starving because I can't eat or drink all day tomorrow? LOL!

Re: Hey y'all

I had a much easier time with my DaVinci Hyster than I did with my Lap Gall Bladder. It may be that I had my Gall Bladder out just 7 weeks after my Hyster but it really whipped me bad.
I had very little pain with my Hyster but the tiredness can get overwhelming.
I went back to work a week after but I had a job that I could go home when ever I needed. Take it easy because going backwards from over doing it will make healing take longer...
Good Luck
