Fluffy and Scared

Hi! I would love some reassurance from some fluffy friends... Im 33 and I weigh 345lbs. I literally just almost bleed to death was told that I lost 2/3rd of my bodys volume of blood and really the only way to 100% prevent bleeding again is to remove my uterous. I will have the date tomorrow, the plan is to do a da Vinci Hyster.... there is a 20% chance of it being converted to a TAH, I will be keeping my ovaries. My biggest fear is my weight if Im cut. I had surgery a week ago to remove a fibroid and do a D&C while I was in the hospital recieving blood so I know I did well with general anthesia... so my question is how did the fluffy ladies do with recovery both if you had to be cut and if you had lap... thanks sooo much. Everyday it seems I have more and more fears and its great to know I can go somewhere!

Fluffy and Scared

I am 13 yrs older than you and about 20lbs lighter, and basically in pretty good health except for my weight.
I had a vertical cut adominal hyster. I am cut 4 inches above the belly button to 5 inches below. The worst pain was after recovery when I woke up in the room. Not from the surgery, but a whole body stiffness that us larger ppl really get when we lay in one position for too long.
Now since you just had the D&C done, the two days following were in a lot of pain thru your whole body? I was after mine and it hurt way worse then any pain from the major surgery.
My incision did get slightly infected at the hospital but a strong antibotic for 10 days took care of that. My surgery was on a monday I was out of the castle on Thursday afternoon and by Friday night was basically on Motrin only. Except for the few times I over did it (like making chocolate chip cookies in the second week cause I was bored and feeling better; big NO NO).
I went back to work in the factory in my 7th week. I wish I could have build up my strength a little more before going back.
Otherwise I had a very easy recovery, my room mate was a skinny thing who's surgery was right before mine and she was still there when I was released.
I tried to basically do as I was told and only walk, not lift anything I wasn't suppose to, instead of large meals I grazed during the day if I was hungry (which you probably won't be the first week or two).

Thank you

Thank you sooo much this makes me feel so much better... no I felt fine after the d&c and removal of the fibroid. I too am in great health other than the weight and anemia from heavy bleeding. Its not the plan to be cut but just tiny incisions with the daVinci.... but im terrified of the what ifs. Again thanks you have made me feel alot better

Fluffy and Scared

I am 37 and slightly fluffy. I didnt have any complications really and did quite well. I got tired of having the leg cuffs on. I had a TAH with a bikini incision. I was IV pain meds and a pain med catheter which was great. It was in the incision itself and delivered pains meds directly to the incision area. Was up walking by the next moring and did laps around the labor and delivery floor. I didnt have an appetite for a long time and actually lost weight. I'm sure everything will go fine for you. Best of luck with your surgery!!

Great question!

I too am slightly fluffy ( I will use that term instead of flubby now- it's much nicer ) and was wondering about the incision pain and healing with some extra fluff around the belly.
