Does anyone know where I can find articles online on the usual treatment of simple hyperplasia without atypia? I was told I should get a total hysterectomy for this.

If you do a regular Internet search on "endometrial hyperplasia" you'll get all sorts of information on all four types of hyperplasia, along with the treatments suggested.

I believe the treatment of choice is hormones...

I also had simple hyperplasia without atypica, and my surgeon said that this diagnosis alone would normally not warrant a hysterectomy.

However, there might be extenuating circumstances as to why your doctor is recommending a hysterectomy. For example, sometimes older patients require a more invasive treatment. Still, only a small percentage of simple hyperplasia without atypica patients progress to cancer.

Is this the only diagnosis?

I guess if I were you I'd do some more research and find out exactly why the doctor is recommending a hyst for this. I'd also get a second medical opinion. to you.

Yes, this is the only diagnosis. When I went for my check up after the d & c, the doctor looked at the pathology report and said it does show pre-cancerous cells. She said its called simple hyperplasia without atypia and the best thing to do would be to get a hysterectomy. She referred me to a doctor for the hysterectomy since she no longer does them, so I will see if he agrees with her. I'm also thinking about seeing a gyn oncologist to see what he thinks the chance is that this will progress to cancer.

I would get a second opinion. I have complex hyperplasia...more serious< and I can't take hormones due to previous blood clots, so my new doc says hyster for me...............but if I could have taken hormones he might have tried that first. Good Luck

I had endometrial hyperplasia w/o atypia about 20 years ago. At that time my Dr put me on provera for several months (I don't remember now exactly how long it was, I think about 6 months). It completely reversed it. While being on the provera was not a lot of fun, it was temporary.

You might want to see another Dr for an additional opinion.

Kay
