What to eat the day before surgery

Hi everyone. My SAH is scheduled for Monday and I had all my pre-op tests yesterday. They told me to begin to decrease my eating for a couple of days before the surgery. They suggested soups, pasta etc. Has anyone been told this too? Are you going to decrease for just one day or a couple.

My SAH/BSO was last Friday. On the Wed prior, had soup and milkshake, thurs had broth at lunch and that was it. Did bowel prep Thurs night and enema Fri early a.m. Needless to say, didn't go in to surgery with much at all. Believe it helprd me. No gas pains and constipated just for a day or so. I'm sure you will do just fine.

I ate very light the day before as well (just cut servings/portions down). My motivation was that I had to drink the citrate beverage, and I didn't want to be in the bathroom all night. It helped tremendously. Take care.

My advise would be to avoid anything spicy, especially spicy hot foods. Had my husband pick up egg foo young and hot and sour soup. Had to do the mag. citrate and took it at about 4 p.m. and it started working about 2 in the morning. About four hours in and out of the potty. Boy did it burn. I was thankful when that was over!
