Re: Pre-op day before surgery???
I too was on pain meds (pretty strong) before surgery. I see a pain specialist. My gyn does lots of surgeries on patients with chronic pelvic pain. He assured me pre-op that he would work with me to find the right meds post-op & he did. Its important he/she makes sure the nursing staff know what you were on pre-op, that way they arent quick to jump to conclusions. Toward the end of the 2nd week post-op I was back down to my pre-op dose, but just more frequently.
As for pre-op appt- I didnt have one. Typically its like a quick physical- blood pressure, weight, heart rate, etc. Also an opportunity for last minute questions/ concerns to be addressed. Will likely want quick blood work to see what counts are pre-op & possibly to type & screen it in case you need blood after surgery. I did have blood drawn & talked with a nurse from the hospital on the phone. I only saw my doc for like 2 minutes before my surgery the day of (he had to take off to help with a delivery).
best wishes to you all! We will see you on the "other side".
