is the headache related to hysty?
I had a full hysty Sept 6. Laparoscopic vaginal. I'm 48. Had experienced hot flashes for 3-4 years, so was likely peri-menopausal. Left the hospital w/ an estrogen patch, and started on Premarin 3 days later. My question is about an unreal headache I picked up 2 days post op. I have no history of migraines. This headache is throbbing -- I can hear/feel every beat of my heart at this one-sided centralized spot at the back of my head, top of neck. And it hurts to move my head. Is this estrogren-related? Do I need to contact my doctor before my post-op follow-up?

is the headache related to hysty?
It could possibly be estrogen related, here is a list from the articles in the hormone jungle that can help you know if your symptoms are hormone related https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/article_97238.htm. Let your dr know, he can switch the type of estrogen you use and that may help. I wish you the best. Lots of 's, Carol

I experienced the same thing and it was from my estrogen patch. As soon as my doctor reduced the dosage the headaches went away. I'm sorry you're going through this and know just how debilitating those headaches can be. I hope this helps.

Thanks carolynz and mandylou for responding. I'm amazed at how compassionate everyone is on this site. My headaches have gotten better. That initial one was a wopper, but it happened before I took the patch off. Does the patch usually have more estrogen than the pills?

From what I understand, the dosages are pretty much the same. The biggest difference is just that the pill has to go through your digestive system, liver, etc. and the patch doesn't. I'm so glad to hear your headaches are better! I hope they continue to improve until they are just a distant memory! The very best of wishes in your recovery!
