Miss the uterine contractions
Hi Ladies, I have the same sad experience. I had my uterus and cervix removed. I used to have wonderful orgasms, deep and fulfilling, and now they are gone, due to the loss of uterine contractions.
When I mentioned this to my gynecologist who did the operation she said there was not such thing as uterine orgasms, and that I was the first person to mention it to her in all her 20 years !! How can she honestly tell me that??
I am so sad and angry. . I also don't have as much pleasure or sensation anymore. Is there any help or hope for this to change?
Does anyone out there have the same problem and has found some help?
Thanks

Re: Miss the uterine contractions
Well... there is no such thing as uterine orgasms, which would be orgasms triggered by stimulating the uterus itself. However, did you try asking your DR what role the contraction of the uterus plays in the sensations during orgasm? That's a whole different question, and one we usually try to mention to women in our Pre Op forum who are asking about what sex will be like after surgery.
Unfortunately it is a fact that without a uterus to contract, orgasms are often a little weaker after surgery. However, there are tradeoffs... many women find they are easier to achieve than before. Not to mention that whatever serious condition prompted the surgery is presumably gone.
I did find that things got somewhat stronger as I got a long time post-surgery (more than a year). However, it's true, the strong uterine contractions can't possibly be there anymore since there is no uterus anymore.
s,
-Linda

I can assure you that you are not alone. I had wonderful mutiple orgasms before my hyst. and was NEVER TOLD by my Dr. that this would be affected by the surgery. Unfortunately I did not find hystersisters until after my surgery. I can have an orgasm with clitoral stimulation. I actually have very very little feeling in my vagina at all now. When I mentioned all of this to my Dr. he just shrugged his shoulders and said absolutely nothing. My husband and I have learned to accomodate for this and still find ways to please each other.

Re: Miss the uterine contractions
Well I am almost 2 years post-surgery, at 1st after the surgery my orgasms were better, differant but better. But about 8 moths to a year after they started to dwindle down, now I barely can orgasm at all & when I do I don't really feel anything. I have a healthy sex drive, just not able to orgasm. If I had know then what I know now I would never had the hysterectomy, nobody told me I would lose my inability to orgasm. It really makes me sad that at 42 I will never feel another orgasm again. I have not found help anywhere. I have tried many things, nothing works. I am at the point I just want to give up & say why even try.

I know what you mean like what the would consider g spot. That's sad not to have that anymore. I told my Dr I had no Desiree and he said well you have 1 ovary you should be fine, ugh.

Re: Miss the uterine contractions
I am 4 plus years post hyster. before I had my hysterectomy I had amazing multiple orgasms. Now, I have NO vaginal sensation and clitoral only with help from gels, creams etc. the closest I get to knowing I have had an orgasm is I feel very relaxed. I REALLY miss what I consider "real toe curling orgasms" yes clitoral stimulation feels good but I feel cheated and I don't know if my increased sex drive is because I am looking for the illusive "O" but my husband has NO interest anymore! I feel like I lost a very important part of my marraige when I had my hysterectomy. I needed to have it and so I don't regret having it but I just wish I could get some better answers. cuz "I can't get no satisfaction"

Re: Miss the uterine contractions
Hi! I'm new to this website and am so excited to be able to talk with other women who have the same trouble that I do.
I had a hysterectomy and bladder sling done in March 2009. I'm now 42 and have been divorced since before my surgery. Prior to the surgery, I had very strong "spasms" and my husband could feel them. I now have very, very week orgasms and I am sure that I no longer have those "spasms" that a man would feel. I feel doomed and worry to no end that when I finally focus on me after my kids have gone on to college, I won't be able to please a man.
Do any of you have suggestions? I had NO IDEA this might happen. Nobody ever told me, which sounds common in this forum.
I do kegels all of the time but seem to feel a difference. Any suggestions are welcome!
Thanks!

Re: Miss the uterine contractions
I feel the same as all you ladies..... No feeling at all vaginally - rubbish clitoral orgasms - no spasms - would almost have rather put up with the crippling endo pain and cysts. Left feeling very sad and cheated. Sorry I have nothing to help you ladies as I have tried everything. I would love to hear from
anyone who has had surgery to repair or release nerves that supply the area. Take care

Re: Miss the uterine contractions
I knew the moment I recovered from surgery that something was wrong. I was angry. I felt I had aged 10 years overnight. My muscle strength and my sexual drive was affected. Neither have returned.
I believe the sexual function is a total system, and all parts need to be there for it to work. My attempts at orgasm are pitiful. It is as if there is no fuel (from ovaries) and there is nowhere and no place for any contraction to go (uterus gone and Fallopian tubes, too). I was told that if I kept my cervix, post-surgery sex will be better. Not true.
I, too, miss the sex drive and sex life I used to have. I remember the physical deepness of both the desire and the release.
The decision to have a hysterectomy is the one thing in my life I would change. Had I known beforehand the extent of damage it would cause, I would have preferred the pre-hysterectomy symptoms instead.
