Nine weeks post-op, won't be around much now!

Hi Guys,, this board was very helpful,, hearing how others handled issues like BMs' constipation, gas,, all that glamorous stuff thats alot easier to talk about online rather then in person!!

But, I am not 9 weeks post op,, and barely remember I even had a TAH,( plus A and P repairs) , except for the weight gain( sitting around and eating for 6 weeks really packed the weight on for me).. I am happy with results,, I am happy to walk down the femmine product aisle at the store and not have to load up ,, I am thrilled to not have pee all the time( fibroids pushed on bladder, and prolasped uterous was no fun either!!).

I want to encourage anyone going through the first month to take it easy,, but don' t just lay around all day,, walk ,, even if its a block. Your jelly belly( I always felt it was all wiggly in there) WILL go away,, you WILL stop feeling weird twinges, and you WILL be able to sit up in bed without rolling to your side first..

It may seem like you will never get better,, but the truth is,, for the vast majoriity of you ,, you will recover fully and this will just be a blip on the radar of your life...

Yes, you may hurt now,, but it will get better, yes, the scars do fade, and no you will likely NOT be the only woman in the world to not recover like everyone else( hey, I know some of you think that way,, cut that out,, be positive) you may take a bit longer ,, thats all. Give yourself time, don't obsess about what you can't do yet,. but rejoice in how much you can do now( hey even having a good BM is reason to party some days) .

Best wishes to all.

PS And to the few who will genuinely have some serious complications,, SPEAK up at the doctors office,, don't accept an unacceptable answer,,, no it is not normal to have fevers , bleeding or pus for days or weeks on end( well you will bleed for a few weeks, but lightly) . .. and if you are truly in serious pain( not discomfort, you just have to accept you will be uncomfortable for at least the first 3-4 weeks) then ask doctor WHY??

Best luck to everyone,, from a happy hyster sister!

Hi Loveparis

Glad you are feeling all better and thanks for the sound advice to others above.

This site and all the hyster sisters have been of so much help to me in the weeks before & after my hysterectomy that I have decided to spend an hour a day on here for the forseeable future to give back. Hope you will drop by every now & then too!
