Pain relief

Hey all you sisters out there! Does anyone have a suggestion for a pain reliever that actually kills pain but doesn't make me tired or "out of it"? I know my Dr. will give me whatever these day before my surgery, but I have kids, a household, and a business to run. Just looking for suggestions for something to relieve some of this pain but not make me "loopy".

Thanks, and God bless!

Pain relief

Hey girl just wanted to say that I also have server pain and I can't take pain meds. that a doctor gives because they make my loopy also plus I also have a small child. I have found that taking 800mg of Ibiprofen helps to kill some of the pain so that I can tolarate it enough to function thruogh the day. Plus it dosen't make me sleepy or loopy, Just make sure you eat before you take it so it dosen't upset your stomach. My surgery is the 5th of Oct. so I have to stop the pain meds on the 26th of sept. Good luck on the 4th.
s and er for you!!!

Pain relief

Hi Mandi
I am not a doctor or health professional, but I've certainly tried a whole lot of different pain medications.

The best thing to do is talk to your doctor, who can prescribe one of the stronger anti-inflammatory meds. I think that many women here have had success with Toradol (ketorolac), which also reduces pain.

It didn't work for me, but then again, neither did codeine.

We all have different needs, so I'm sure your doc can advise you.

Pain relief

I have tried.. viox.... celebrex... did not work.. finally tried vicodin... made me kinda loopy where I would nod off for a few minutes then be wide awake and wanting to scrub the floors and walls...LOL... not really funny but I really felt weird... and it seemed like the pain came back even worse.. I am using darvocet right now.. it does work for me.. does not make me drowsy and seems to work for a longer period of time... I can't use motrin or any ibuporfen products.. as I had bursitis in my elbows from 20 years of waitressing and was on prescription strength ibuprofen for a few years pain and swelling and had to have 2/3 of stomach and intestines removed due to severe ulcers from the ibuprofen...hope you find something that works for you..

Pain relief

Ponstel was something that worked for me for a while. Same kind of thing, needed something that wouldn't make me loopy so I could concentrate at work. Took percoset at home, ponstel at work.

At one point I was on a lot (like 1200mg) of ibuprofen and it ended up making my stomach hurt - now I can't take it.

Pain relief

Hi I tried ponstel for the menstral cramps, then moved to bextra, neither helped. I am now post castle and using Percocet aka Oxycodone. Works GREAT for me and I am not dozy at all.

Good luck.

Pain relief

My dr hasnt given me anything but ibuprofen and darvocet which for me curbs the pain but doesnt take it away. I have told her several times about my constant pain and how in the middle of the night I wake up in pain and cant get back to sleep until the meds kick in. I dont like taking meds all the time but I am getting really down and discouraged with being in pain all the time. Should I seek another dr?
