Being out of it
A bit of curiosity here. I have recently been awed by the power of modern pharmaceuticals. I am wondering how long a gap in your memory there is for your surgery.
With my TAH, I remember being "sent back" at about 2:15 pm. The next thing I clearly remember is being put into a hospital bed (Ouch!). There was a large clock in front of me and it read 7:30 pm! I have a vague memory of somebody asking about pain (that dang scale) which must have been in Recovery, but no other recollection of that.
I recently had anal surgery for a fissure and hemmorhoid (side effect following TAH!). This was a day surgery and I didnt have a general. Still, I went to the OR at about 9:15 pm. and next became aware at noon! That was eerie as I knew I didnt "wake up" but just suddenly became aware of where I was. I had been talking with people and functioning, but I have no memory of it. The surgeon and I were marvelling over the power of these meds. He said he often can't tell if someone is going to remember or not. He had explained how things went to me, but I have no memory of it! Very strange feeling. I hope they only use their powers for good...
