When can I travel?

I am planning to travel to have surgery. (I live in a country where it can be risky to have surgery.) I need to know approximately: how long after the surgery will I be OK to fly? The flight is about 5 hours.

Re: When can I travel?

Hi Sarah23 and

What type of hysterectomy surgery are you scheduled to have? The least invasive types like robotic-assisted laparoscopic procedures would likely permit you to travel sooner after surgery that the most invasive type like a total abdominal hysterectomy, which I had. There would be no way that I would have been able to trudge through an airport, through security, etc...until at least several weeks post-op.

Of course, your doctor is the only person who can advise you about this for sure.

Are you planning to fly back for post ops?

Re: When can I travel?

I will have post ops back in my home country.

The scary thing is I won't know what type of surgery I will have until I meet my surgeon a few days before the hysterectomy.

I'm a little apprehensive about it all.

Re: When can I travel?

Seems like quite a pickle. We all heal so differently. Best of luck with the decision!
