Help! I think I am catching a cold! SURGERY is Tomorrow!

I am scheduled tomorrow for a TVH w/ AP repair. I woke up this morning and have the beginnings of a cold (I think?) Will I have to reschedule my surgery? Maybe is just my allergies. I am freaking out. I can't wait any longer, please, please tell me I will be fine.

Hi Rose!!

HUGS!!

Take a deep breath, relax, and call your doctor.

This was one of my biggest fears before surgery. My allergies were really bad at the time and everytime I sneezed I was afraid I was getting a cold.

Your doctor can give you the best advice to deal with it before your surgery tomorrow. Please do not take anything without checking with your doctor. They would more likely cancel for you taking something without consulting with them first.

Hang in there girl!

Yes...definately call the doc. There are some meds that you cannot take prior to surgery...they will need to know and perhaps they can give you some suggestions. Maybe they'll let you take some Vit C and Zinc...but I would ask first.

As long as you don't have a temp, you might be OK..

Good luck!

These girls are right. Please call your doctor. He/She will know best what is allowable. I am scheduled to have this same surgery in Dec and I too worry about allergies. I usually have a time through this time of year. Best wishes that you will be feeling up to tomorrow and things will go as planned.

Help! I think I am catching a cold! SURGERY is Tomorrow!

I had bad Hayfever the day before surgery ( I suppose mulching the garden the weekend before wasn't a good move) He Ok'd me to use antihistamine ( not psuedo) and treated me with electro magnetic heated pads on my sinuses , It was like a miracle I felt great within !/2 hour , I was so stressed waiting for the big day , So give your Dr a call ,
Goodluck see you on the post op board

As a general rule, most DR's (or the anesthesiologist) will ok surgery as long as there is no congestion in your lungs, and as long as you don't have a fever.

DON'T self medicate this close to surgery. If you haven't already, call your DR and let him/her know how you're feeling. And find out what, if anything, you can take tonight.

If surgery does have to be postponed ~ although it's inconvenient as all get out, sneezing, coughing, and blowing your nose post op hurts, so it could be for the best.

S and I hope it's your allergies!
