Why oh why this pain ? Some basic questions

After months of abdo pain, four stays in hospital and the removal of my appendix in March, the docs have finally decided that the fibroids they found in Jan are causing me the continuing pain and have recommended a vaginal hysterectomy. I'm undergoing Zoladex injections to prepare the way. Had the first last week. What a needle !!

Some questions: how long after the last injection do they normally wait before surgery ? Why do I experience a pulling down feeling in my uterus
(had this before injections started) What could the intense pain be that I now experience on both side of my tummy, it is pinpointed over my ovaries ?

Any advice on how to deal with constant pain. It's getting me down ! Thanks guys.

Why oh why this pain ? Some basic questions

Hi,

I am not sure what is causing your pain that you are having now, but wanted to say I'm thinking of you and hope you get some kind of relief soon.

I would ask the dr some of these questions and if he can give you something for pain.

Sending s your way.

Why oh why this pain ? Some basic questions

Hi SquidgySue,

I don't recognise the Zoladex injections - are these similar to Lupron which is used to shrink the size of fibroids to make surgery easier?

If so, then my DR told me that the optimum time for carrying out surgery was 3 weeks after the last injection. This can be extended to 4-5 weeks but remember that as soon as the injection starts to wear off in the 4th week the fibroids grow back very very quickly.

I hope this has helped you a little,
