24/7 active birth control before surgery?

Greetings ladies

In an effort to control the horrendous symptoms I suffer through the week before, the week of and the week after my period, (and until my surgery date) my DD put me on a 24/7 active regimen of Yasmin birth control back in February. This means I completely skip the placebo week and go straight to the first active pill of the next pill pack. I've been on this plan for three months, have had two periods and one loooong six-week session of spotting of varying intensity. Now, the full-throttle-put-me-in-bed with big pain meds pain has been avoided for the most part, but I still have the awful endo backache and I'm permanently PMS-ing...I'm retaining water, my breasts are so sore that I can't even hug my DB and I'll cry at the drop of a hat.

Has anyone else been put on this regimen? What have your experiences been?

Thank you everyone,
s

24/7 active birth control before surgery?

I was on the bcp for 3 months before my surgery - not for exactly the same reason as you, but to cut down on the bleeding.
It worked fine at the beginning and then for the last 2 and a half weeks I had spotting almost every day - not a lot,but it was frustrating.

I stopped taking the pills 1 month before surgeryand as luck would have it, the spotting stopped and I had surgery just before my period was due to start, so I "missed" it.

I too gained a huge amount of "puffiness" - and was very cranky and emotional - I suppose part of it could be put down to the fact that I knew surgery was looming - but I think most of it was due to the pills -- my weight dropped dramatically after surgery.

Maybe you can talk to your dr about a different dosage?
I know how rotten this can feel - without the endo pain - with it, I can only imagine how crummy you feel.
