Can I swim yet

I had an abdominal hysterectomy 6/23. I have my first post-op check up 7/21. We are moving out of state 7/26 and so we are having a "House Cooling" swim party/BBQ this Sunday...I have no bleeding, no discharge, feel pretty good except being tired. I was wondering if I can "swim"...meaning just bob around in my pool on one of those water wiggle thingys? Not actually SWIM...

As you haven't had your first check up or the "all-clear" from your doc, my opinion about swimming would be a definite .

You don't want to introduce bacteria or germs into the vagina while you are still raw and healing inside. I know chlorine is supposed to kill bacteria etc, but I don't think it kills everything.

I know it is a bummer to not be able to participate in the swimming fun, but just try to convince yourself that it is in the best interest of your health to skip the swim and just enjoy the rest of the party's festivities. You only have one chance to heal safely and properly. Don't risk it.

Get the okay from your doc first.

Can I swim yet

Hi,
I got the ok from my Dr. to get in the pool at four weeks. Just laying around on a raft keeping cool. Works great for hot flashes. Didn't actually start swimming until 6 weeks. Call your dr and ask before you get in its easier to wait a while then to have to pay for it after. Good luck to you!
