What to expect

Hi I am getting ready to have a hysterectomy the 13th of aug and my pre-op appt is the 7th of aug. I was wonder what to expect and what kind of advise does anyone have to quit smoking, and what is the key to getting through this without the fear of losing everything?

When I went for my pre-op I had a list of questions writtten down, the nurse thought it was funny but I felt I got everything answered.
How long the surgery will take?
what to expect afterwards?
Do they give you a tummy band or do I have to buy one?
(which I found a great underwear with a hook front closure in Macy's that gives support-so I'll let you know how it works when I get my surgery-on the 10th)
When can I drive? go back to work? any special diet to help with the gas? vitamin therapy to build my system back up(which I started a large dosage of vitamins before surgery I had to stop the vitamine E one week before)
As you think of questions, write them down, even when you surf this web so you can ask.

I was bad... I started smoking again two years ago after an eight year break. I was in the hospital for 4 days with my TAH and that was the perfect time to never pick them up again. I did really well until my BF returned to work after my surgery. Then I picked them up[ out of boredom.

There is a wonderful product by prescription called Chantix. Ask your doctor if he can write you a prescription now and by the time your surgery comes along, you should be well on your way to quitting. You can do a Google search and read about it.
