laparoscopic hysterectomy: abdomen is numb??

Discovered this week that my abdomen, about two inches from my belly button and down, is numb!! Yes, the skin, and area is about the size of my fist. Asked doc as i had laparoscopy and there are no incisions anywhere near, and got his standard reply: i dont know, doesnt have anything to do with me. Yeah, right, hes the only one who has been doing anything in there and it wasnt like that before! Im suspecting a cut nerve from the inside, but anybody else got any thoughts or ideas? It isnt painful, just, well, numb!!

Re: abdomen is numb??

Thanks, its not bothering me. Just feels strange. If i lay flat on my back i feel like theres something heavy on it but its actually just numb. Not comfy on my back anyway so no big deal.

Re: laparoscopic hysterectomy: abdomen is numb??

204RC, i will be very curious to hear what your doc says. I am having little faith in mine after he told me at 6 weeks with sutures intact the pinching and burning cannot be the cuff - hes never heard of that before. I will be seeking a second opinion if it doesnt resolve in a couple weeks.

lovelifenow, I'll let you know what he says and I would definitely get a second opinion if you're not satisfied. I think it will take time especially since we just had major surgery. I hope it start resolving itself for you and things get back to normal.
