Re: Almost 1wk post surgery, still do not feel so hot

Hi Bight eyes,

Your body just went through major invasion so it will take time to heal and for you to feel better. Even though you went through the davinci procedure and it was less invasive, your body still needs to heal. Try to be patient.

Re: Almost 1wk post surgery, still do not feel so hot

Wow you're only 5 days out....it sounds like you're doing great!

My first week was miserable, lots of pain, could barely move, and BM's only started moving again at about day 8.

Just keep doing what you're doing..I'm sure you'll feel a difference in another 5 days.

Re: Almost 1wk post surgery, still do not feel so hot

Hi, sounds like you are doing better than most I wasn't walking much at week 1! I am about 5 weeks out DVH and the biggest complaint I have right now is being so tired! I work part time desk job but even with that I come home and most days have to take a quick nap! I also have lower back pain sciatic pain I am assuming it's due to the way I had to sleep the first few weeks. I hope you feel better soon!

Re: Almost 1wk post surgery, still do not feel so hot

I am 7 days post op and feel the same. My swelly belly just started. My lounge pants feel to tight and the were loose to begin with. Now I moved to my husbands over size big dog drawers. Go figure. All I can say is I'm hoping it gets better. I found out today naps are a good thing. I did not nap the first 6 days. I think I will from now on.

Thanks for the positive encouragement, the md's said I would feel so good at a week post surgery and not to overdue it as I would tire out and need to rest. I do not feel that great like they had described. I know everyone heals differently. Just wondering how other hyster sisters doing at one week mark. Hugs

Re: Almost 1wk post surgery, still do not feel so hot

I had mine april 12th and still feel tempted to take some leftover norco's now and then! So yeah, each woman heals differently. Patience is the key here. We don't feel at 100% til about a year after surgery.

Around 8 weeks post op, we're about 40% healed.

It seems not uncommon for doctors to oversell how "great" we'll feel very soon after surgery. Initial recovery is more generally described as 4-6, even 8, weeks (certainly before returning to work). And healing has been said to be more like a marathon than a sprint. It sounds like you're doing A LOT. Here are the Checkpoints for Weeks 1 and 2 which give useful guidelines for what to expect during this initial stage. Also, if you haven't found it already, there's a post-op recovery thread for each week where members offer and receive support and advice - it's a great place to share your progress and find out how others who had surgery during your week are doing. You can find your thread here: https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/sho...d.php?t=529258.

Wishing you a speedy recovery!
