Serious pain at 9 weeks post hysterectomy - what's happening?

Hi all - I had a TVH on 9-12-14 and was recovering very well. Minimal pain, minimal bleeding, and getting my energy back at a pretty stead pace. I did have a UTI at 3 weeks which was resolved in about a week with Cipro.

Three weeks ago (around 11/4 around 9 weeks post-op) I started having abdominal pain, pain on urination and suspected another UTI. First urine test was neg, but the next day I did another and it was positive so I was on Cipro again for another week. The UTI is resolved but the pain has never gone away. I'm worried that I have developed some type of chronic cystitis OR perhaps I injured myself by overdoing it and the bladder infection was just an added bonus. Thinking back over the past month I really did resume most of my normal activities including carrying in heavy bags of groceries, lifting bags of dog food and lifting my 25 pound grandson just the weekend prior to the start of the pain. I had no idea I could do permanent damage and now I'm really scared. Doctor told me I was healthy at 6 weeks and could resume normal activities. For me that has been extremely active so I did and now I'm having pain every day and all night, as well. I'm scheduled to see the doctor tomorrow. To add to the mix, I'm on a new insurance with a huge deductible, so cost will be out of pocket.

I feel so stupid.

Re: Serious pain at 9 weeks - what's happening?

You could be stretching those muscles that haven't been used for a while. Try a heating pad,to relax. Another thing would be scar tissue . If you do too much, they pull part and hurt. I hope, your doc can give you an idea what is going on as mine couldn't. Now I will be going to physio to find out...

I have suspected it could be scar tissue or adhesions. There seems to be a lot of ladies who have this issue after surgery. What is physio? Is that like physical therapy?

Yes, it is. Just an abbreviation for it.
