Has anyone had this issue?

Hello,

I haven't been here in a while! I had a total hyst in 05, including ovaries. Left the cervix.

Here is the deal: I've gained about 20 pounds since my surgery, and I just saw an endocrinologist, who also said my thyroid was out of whack.

However, the odd thing is that they checked my hormone levels and the doctor's assistant called to ask me if I really had both ovaries removed, because I have a high estrogen level in my blood.

Now, if both ovaries--along with my uterus--were removed, why would I be registering high estrogen levels?

Has this happened to anyone else? I thought maybe it's because fat cells store estrogen??

Anyway, I contacted my surgeon, but I haven't heard back from him.

If anyone has had the same issue, please let me know.

Thanks!

Has anyone had this issue?

Are you on HRT? And did you have polycystic ovaries before your surgery?

Has anyone had this issue?

Hi I read in this old post of yours:

https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/sho...81#post1189481

that you had severe endo that was found during your surgery. It's impossible to be 100% sure of getting every teeny scrap of endo during surgery, and all it takes is a few cells... endo can re-grow (for example, on your cervix) and produce its own estrogen, which in turn encourages the endo to grow even more, etc. .

Have you noticed a return of the pains you used to have with the endo? I'm glad you are going to see your DR. Let us know what you find out, OK?

s,
-Linda

Has anyone had this issue?

I am about nine months post op and have gained about 15 pounds. I was overweight before surgery, but my weight had not changed in at least 10 years. Now all I have to do is look at food and the pounds pile up. I have been away on vacation for the month of March, and that has made it even harder to control things. We will go home next week and start the South Beach diet. DH promises to stick with it for my sake as well as his own. Other than this problem, and some numbness on my thigh and belly, I feel I have made a great recovery since my TAH last June. I was already post menopauseal so I do not think hormones are much different now. I am still getting the same hot flashes that I had before the surgery. But I gotta lose some of this weight, especially the belly fat!!!

Has anyone had this issue?

about tw years ago, i gained 15 pounds. i even had to buy new pants! i went to my mid wife for an exam, because i just couldn't stop bleeding. after trials and errors with iuds, bc pills, and premerin, they checked my thyroid. it was off slightly off. she put me on synthroid. woop! the weight left. i didn't do anything different. so congrats! the weight will leave. i don't have anything to add to the estorgen deal. i have no ideas. i wish you luck though!
