bleeding/blood clot

Hi, im new to the hystersisters site and i hope this works for me as I need some from of help from others who are in the same or similar condition as me.
First and foremost, I had my LAVH surgery on January 26, 2006 and have had some minor problems, but am doing ok.
I guess first of all, my bleeding was minimal and then all of sudden on the 3rd of Feb. I encountered heavy bleeding and alot of pain so i called the dr. and went into his office. I had a transvaginal ultrasound and it showed a bloodclot where my uterus used to be. Now, he said the bleeding was a good thing as the blood needed to drain from the clot otherwise, we'd have a problem and require a second surgery to remove the clot. Yikes!
So, I was sent home with antibotics and told the rest. Fine, I did and quit bleeding as of Saturday the 4th. I went to see him (dr.) on Monday the 6th and told him what is going o with me and said, no, no, thats not what i meant to say, stopping bleeding is good and was rushed out the door.
Now......im confused, one day im told that the bleeding is good in order to drain the clot, then 3 days later, the bleeding has stopped and its a "good thing"..huh? Which is it?
I am concerned...what happened to the clot and what is a person to do when you are given 2 different answers by the same dr.
Should I be keep wondering what happened to my clot and wait it for more pain or a fever to set in or keep nagging the dr. as to what happened to my clot?
Someone out there please help me as I am driving myself crazy with thinking about the clot and what happened to it. I know it didnt come out because I havent bled.
I feel fine right now, with some minor tenderness in the stomach, but am experiencing the swelly belly badly today.

plz help.

Hi Eycqueen, I'm so sorry you are going thru this. I would feel so frustrated and worried if I were you. I think you should call your dr's office and speak with the nurse. Describe EXACTLY what the dr said on the 2 different occasions and let her know that you need some accurate info so you won't worry. I think you will get the most help that way. The way you described things I thought you might have a hematoma. But they
don't drain so much as go down on their own. If you don't feel comfortable with your dr's answer then go to someone else or even an ER. They will give you some good info too. Perhaps you have a regular MD who you can ask to follow up on this with you? That's in case you don't feel comfortable talking again with the first office.

Best Wishes for a good recovery!

Hi there

I'm not an expert in this but it sounds as if you had a hematoma - a packet of blood. Some hematomas will drain and that may be why your doctor said what he did.

It is certainly a good idea for your peace of mind to clarify your situation with the doctor or his office.

Best wishes and let us know the outcome.
