Mid July Princesses....How are we now??

I am almost 5 weeks out and have been doing great. I have been walking on the treadmill since week 3 up to 4 mph and haven't been having any pain, with the exception of a few twinges every now and again. I saw my doctor last week for post-op check and he told me I can begin doing whatever I want with the exception of lifting over 10 lbs and vacuuming, but am cleared for anything else I feel like doing. He did say that sex has to wait until week 6, but so far all is looking good. He didn't anticipate me having any problems. I must say that I have tried the progesterone cream and love this stuff. I am feeling better than before surgery. Its wonderful, the mood swings have lessened and I am able to sleep much better. I sure wish I knew about progesterone cream before surgery, what a great product!

Mid July Princesses....How are we now??

Hi,
At 5 week I am doing great but am experiencing more exterior vaginal pain than I did last week. I attribute it to too much activity the last two days. My concern though is that I checked my stitches (there) last night and they are not visable. I don't think they came out, I think they disapeared into my skin. Is that suspose to happen? I am always checking for any stitches that have fallen out (disolved) but have yet to see any. Also which works better for you? Hot or cold to relieve the pain and presure. Otherwise, outside I am healing great. I really enjoy reading your updates. They help me on a daily basis.

Have a great week.

He said I can begin my old routine after 6 weeks even lifting more than 10 lbs. I am an avid fitness person and lift weights 3 to 4 days per week, so he didn't see any problems with me going back to my regular activities. Of course I don't see me jumping in both feet first, I am gonna have to start slow and build back up. Have already started back lifting hand weight at 5 lbs. No problems or pain. However, since I was in good physical shape prior to surgery I am sure this is why I have had such a quick recovery. Everyone should check with their doctor before they start exercising to make sure they are ready.

Mid July Princesses....How are we now??

I am 6 weeks post TVH kept ovaries. I am still not sleeping well and started back to college full time. Taking 14 hrs this semester. I am having some depression and pain in right hip. I go to the dr today for 6 week check and am going to talk to him about hip pain, not sleeping and depression. I also have had a headache everyday for over a week. I suffer from migraines and out of meds for it have to see a different dr for that. Other than that I am doing fine. My mood swings have calmed down, could be hormones turning back on goning to ask about that also. Hope all my other sisters are doing better also.

Mid July Princesses....How are we now??

Hi Sisters - I am 6 weeks today. TAH - everything gone, including a tumor the size of a football. I feel like I should be doing more after reading everyone's posts! I have been the master of the couch. I have done a minimal amount of driving. I know I need to do more since I am supposed to return to work on the 28th. Thinking of going in at the end of this week for a half day - we shall see. I live in a small town, so for me to get anywhere requires a 14 mile drive at least.
I have been walking around outside a couple of times a day.
I have some pain, but it seems more like it is my bowels. I had a catheder in for 10 days. The tumor was attached to my bladder - he had to cut my bladder to remove it. Was in ICU for a day after surgery - lost a lot of blood and blood pressure was hard to get under control.
I can understand the people that talk about the bladder pain when going potty. I have that mostly in the morning - that first pee of the day - not fun!
I have a very helpful family but I need to get myself in gear. Son is moving back to school this weekend and hubby works odd hours - so I need to start doing some cooking! I have only cook dinner twice since surgery. Let me tell you - the first time was funny. NO one was home, thought spagetti would be easy. Not - took an hour! I put the water in the pot with a smaller pot I could lift. Then when the pasta was done, I could not pick up the pot to drain it! Took the small pot to get out some of the water, and then used the pasta fork to scoop out the pasta! Was funny and pitful at the same time. Hey - I made dinner though!

Hi Laura -

I had my surgery one day after yours and I was cleared to have sex at my 4-week checkup. Today is week 6 and I'm still scared to have sex. I think it's because I am still sore. Have you asked your doctor when you can have sex? (I think it's worth a call in to your doctor's office.)

Mid July Princesses....How are we now??

Hey sisters!
Had my final post op today at 5 weeks. Dreaded that pelvic but it wasn't bad at all. Have had the typical complaints of weird pains in various parts of upper belly, but experienced pain the first time on the left side under my bikini cut incision. It was more spasm like and throbbing, intermittant. Doc wasn't concerned (but she never is :-( ) Released to return to work Aug 29th. Doc authorized only 1/2 days first week because of energy level issues still. Doc still wants me to do annual paps because of family history.

Hosted a reunion of ex-coworkers from 30 years ago here at my house on Saturday. Although hubby (he's the best!) did most of the work, I held up awesomely! Speaking of hubby, I too am worried about the initial sexual encounter. I am fortunate that he has never expects it when I'm not into it, so I know he will be understanding with this apprehension.

Regarding hot flashes, have any of you that wear glasses experienced them fogging up when you are flashing!!!! Gotta look at humor in everything to get through those!

Hang in there gals!

Oh yeah Becky, My glasses fog up while in a hot flash. Especially annoying when I am on this website, I can't see. I have a large fan blowing on me as I type this message. Got to love them flashes. Hugs, Susan
