Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 16-May 22,2011

If your hysterectomy was between May 16-May 22,2011 this is the place to post your progress during your hysterectomy recovery.

If you have a question about your recovery, please start a new thread to receive answers and support for your concerns instead of including the question in your update! There is information on how to start a new thread in this link: New Here? or you can use this link: Post a New Topic in the Post-Op forum.

Post how you are doing here when you are home and well enough to sit a few minutes at your computer.

We hope you are recovering well with plenty of rest and water and a bit of walking. Don't forget to pamper the princess!

How to use the Recovery Progress Reports thread:

  • 1. This thread is for the purpose of sharing updates on your recovery as you heal from your hysterectomy.

  • 2. Generally, ONE or TWO posts on this thread per member/per day is adequate to share your daily progress and to share encouragement with your surgery week Sisters.

  • 3. Remember to start a new thread on the Post-Op message board to ask your questions.

  • 4. The Progress Report threads will be moved at approximately 8 weeks post-op to the Date Club forum inside the HysterSisters clubhouse.

  • 5. Remember all the love and support you got here as a pre-op member? Now it's YOUR turn to give back to the women in the Pre-Op Hysterectomy Support forum. Extend your hand and your hugs in replies to our pre-op ladies in waiting. This will complete our circle of women helping women!

  • 6. You can also share support and experiences with post-op members in all phases of recovery in the Post-Op Hysterectomy Support forum by replying on the new threads they create.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 16-May 22,2011

Welcome home from the castle! I am going to be sharing your recovery with you during these first few weeks. I had my own surgery a little over a year and a half ago and I remember very well these early days filled with soreness, fatigue, questions and relief.

Please use this thread as a place to share your day-to-day experiences. It's a great way to get to know the other women who are having surgery this week right along with you.

Also, don't forget to visit the Post-op and other forums when you need a little extra support or have specific questions that may not get addressed in this forum.

I look forward to meeting all of you and sharing this part of your journey with you.

hello i am 24 hours out of surgery and already sitting at home with my laptop and a hot cup of coffee, i had a complete hysterectomy da vinci style yesterday morning at 800am everthing went well surgery took about 4 hours, i had to have some extra work done with my bladder, i had a prolapsed uterus and cysts on my ovaries was the reason for my surgery everything went well, my doctor told me as long as i could urinate on my own i could come home, so that was my first priority, just wanted to be home and not in the hospital any longer, i think you always feel better at home cant believe how good i feel, yes i have pain but not as bad as i expected hopefully it will be all uphill from here

Hi Meankitty! I just got home from my May 16th surgery a couple hours ago. Was in the hospital a little over 24 hours. They did a lap supracervical hyster. on me and I am sore but glad to be home, too. No sutures, everything was cauterized, kept my ovaries and cervix. They took pictures during my surgery so I got to see the ugly fibroid they removed, along with my uterus. The two of them were attached side by side like Siamese twins, except the firbroid was bigger! Got the dreaded swelly belly. Feeling really tired, but part of that could be from the percoset they have me on. Took me a while to urinate on my own too, so they kept my catheter in until 6:30 this morning. Hope you are right and that everything will go easier from now on for both of us and the others who had their surgeries on the 16th too.

glad you are doing well it definately is good to be home, i think home is the best place to be when you dont feel well, still having some strange feelings when i urinate, going quite offten but not large amounts, maybe from the cath, i have never had one before just have a feeling of my bladder still being full, also could be from the bladder tack too, hopefully it will feel more normal by tomorrow, good luck on your recovery!!

I to just got home, Friday the 13th :-) No pain just not sleeping through the nights. My concern being uncomfortable going to the bathroom. New sensations and I really don't like the feeling. Something to get use to later on is my guess. Love to know I'm not the only one with no pain at all!

I had my TVH with anterior repair and bladder sling suspension done May 4. I. Went in for removal of what they thought was one 2cm fibroid and bladder sling. Doctor said simple 1.5 hr surgery. 4 hours and 6 doctors later they removed two spindle cell tumors one6 cm one 8 cm. Doc said modt complicated surgery in his 20yrs. Expected severe pain but thankfully it was we controlled with dilaudid in the hospital. Had a cath in for 2 days and then out. I have not taken anything other than 800mg ibuprofen since. I left the hospital. First 5 days up every hour or two at migjt to pee.more from bladder spasms but now maybe once a night.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 16-May 22,2011

Hi Systers! So glad to be here!
Home from the hospital after 5/16 robotic assisted hysterectomy. Today seems to be much better than yesterday. Initially, the surgery was intended to rid me of the numerous fibroids and endo, but after a closer view the doctor discovered it was much worse than he expected. I had large amounts of scar tissue from two c-sections, and a prior ablation (that did not work). As well, my appendix was fused to my uterus! Something he said he'd never seen before. Anyway, with all of the love and support from my friends and family it seems a little easier. I am scheduled to go back to work on Monday the 23rd but I'm not sure yet how that will turn out. I have faith that things will get better very quickly. For now, I am enjoying the time sitting on my couch with my new kitten (a gift from my husband when I was released from the hospital). I am so glad I found you all and am looking forward to all of the advice and support! Thanks a million!
