Hi Susan,
I will be 10 months post-op TAH on Oct 18th. I can believe it when they say it can take a year to fully recuperate from this surgery.
I wish I could offer some insight on HRT but since I kept my ovaries I haven't had to deal with it, but that may change next month. I have developed a complex cyst on my right ovary that has grown in size. My DR and I have decided to watch it for another month to see what happens since my CA-125 was normal. I'm not wanting another surgery just yet. We are finally getting some normalacy back in our lives following Hurrican Katrina and I had so many complications following the TAH that I'm afraid of another surgery.
I can say that my memory has not been the same since the surgery. Some days I feel as if I am in a fog. I swear if I don't write things down I will forget to do them. Also I have noticed that I will go to get something in another room and when I get there I have forgotten what it was that I wanted. I hope that doesn't get worse if I have my ovary or ovaries removed.
I can say that I am happy not to have Aunt Flo any longer. I wish I could say that I'm pain free, but that would be a lie, because of the cyst.
I hope you get the HRT adjusted. Have you checked out the hormone jungle forum for some input/advise?

Wishing you the best,
Nancy

Well I am not to the 10 month point but like you I feel in a fog at times, even at work I have to go back to point A and start over just to complete a simple task, very frustrating....
Not alone in the FOG

I'm just over nine months out. Also kept my ovaries. Doing great! It's wonderful not being in that kind of pain all the time. I do battle arthritis, have been since my mid twenties. But it is so nice having that amout of pain gone.

I too have trouble remembering what I went to get in the other room. I have to back track and figure it out. I thought it pretty cool that I'm not the only one. It's a bother and I was becoming a little worried about it. I never thought there could be a correlation with the Hyst. Guess I'll quit worring about that. Thanks!

Luckily, I haven't had any complication. I'm so happy it turned out good. I was pretty worried, I never had surgery befor except getting my tonsels out when I was about ten years old. I was expecting it to be much worse than it was. The first two weeks were pretty tough but after that it wasn't much to complain about. Unless a dog jumped on my belly! That happened a bit having eight of them. I took to keeping a pillow on my lap when I was sitting down.

I'm a health nut, have always been even as a small child. I was always so little that anything my mother told me would make me health, big and strong, even if I didn't like it I would eat or drink as much of it as I could anyway. In the end I had to settle for healthy and strong. (two outta three aint bad.) I think it finally payed off. I never had any trouble getting up or around, never had any swelly belly, after the first two weeks I was back to doing what I always did. One of those lucky one I guess.

It's good to hear from all of you around the same time. See how everone is doing.

I hope the same for everyone here!!!

Jacquelyn
