After so many months of nonstop bleeding, my period has stopped...

I started my period back in July..... and it continued nonstop up until the first week of Dec..... I"ve not had a period since about Dec. 6 th. I have a tumor that's engulfed my left ovary and it's about the size of a very large orange... prob a grapefruit now. It gives me constant pain, but sometimes I get real sharp pains that take my breath away. I'm scheduled for a hysterectomy on 2/27 due to menorrhagia & and the tumor. But my question is, why have I all of a sudden stopped bleeding.. not that I'm complaining about not bleeding, my blood count has been way down. I'm still in the same pain as if I was still on my period. .. am I weird or something??

After so many months of nonstop bleeding, my period has stopped...

Hi, Scaredinnc,

I had heavy bleeding for many months, and it stopped temporarily, right after I scheduled my hysterectomy. I think that maybe our uteruses know that their days are numbered, and stop misbehaving, briefly, just to make us think twice.

As I said, the bleeding started again after a few days, and continued up until the moment when my uterus was removed.

I'm sorry you're still having pain. No, I don't think you're weird. I think it's just one of those things. Good luck with your surgery, and I hope you will be able to enjoy the lack of bleeding for awhile before your surgery.

Best wishes,
Helen

You are not weird. Things like this happen. I started bleeding in Sept and continued until a week before the surgery 12/18.....but started again before my TVH. I think my uterus wanted to give me one last round. I kept telling it "to bring it on" it sure did!!!!!!! Mine was the result of aborting fibroids.
I am sorry that you are in so much pain. Good luck with your surgery and recovery. Rember to rest, rest, rest.

After so many months of nonstop bleeding, my period has stopped...

Hello again ScaredinNC,
You are definately not weird. I too have bleed for Months (almost a year straight,) I have recently stopped for 3 days,WOW! what a thrill that was for me, than started up again. I can't wait for my TAH ( February 23 I spoke with you about my insurance denying my Surgery) Sweetie, I am not a doctor so I don't know why your Bleeding has stopped, But Don't worry yourself sick over it. Just except it. Don't be scared either. I know it is easier said than done, I too am going threw the same thoughts and fears and worries as you ( and every other woman on this site) Worrying will only make our conditions worse than what they already are. All I can really tell you is Sister, you are not alone and I wish I could reach out right now and give you a big hug. LIke I said, You are in my thoughts and Prayers. After my TAH I will let you know what to expect. Please try to not be so scared, we are all hear for you.Good Luck to you!
