Is anyone else not sleeping?

I am having trouble sleeping! Before my surgery I used 15mg of restoril occasionally and it helped me sleep like a baby. For the last 2-3 weeks I have been taking 30mg nightly and still not sleeping??? I am currently using Biest 0.625mg once a day since 1/6/07. Is anyone else having this problem?

Sleeping Now

I also take Bi-Est 2.75 Mg once a day....I was having trouble sleeping for over a year. I started taking 2 Melatonin capsules, and 2 5-HPT capsules every evening at bedtime. I am sleeping like a baby now. Maybe this will help you. Good luck.

Is anyone else not sleeping?

Harley,
I had problems with sleep for about the first six months post op. It is a fairly common symptom at this point in your recovery. You could try changing the time of day you take your hrt and see if that helps. Good luck! I hope you get some soon.

Is anyone else not sleeping?

You could also try a 'forum search' on the subject ... you'll find hundreds of posts about insomnia ... hopefully enough to send you to sleep! You should find these helpful, in terms of experiences, advice, etc, etc ...

Is anyone else not sleeping?

I had my surgery the same day as you did. I have been having trouble sleeping as well. I had Restoril in the hospital one night. But now it doesn't do anything for me. I have been taking .5 mg of Xanax. I try not to take it every night, but on the nights I don't take it, I don't sleep. I have tried Benadryl, Halcion, Ambien, and Trazadone. I would love a night of medicine-free sleep!

Is anyone else not sleeping?

I am really bothered by the not sleeping. Diamond deb, what kind of melatonin capsules are you using and what is the other--5 HPT? I'll try anything, but am trying to stay away from sleeping pills, if possible. I have been on premarin for a week and it hasn't helped with insomnia, and maybe helping a little with hot flashes. I don't know how long I am supposed to wait to see if it works or call doctor and try something else. Today, I decided I would be more active and get up earlier. Maybe this will help too. I don't fall asleep until well after midnight and then only for a few hours. I use those awake hours to worry!!!!

another insomniac

I guess I am going to be one of the ones who has the sleeplessness for longer than just a little while. It's almost 8 weeks now and I never seem to get to sleep. I end up getting back up and doing something rather than lying in bed getting annoyed that my DH is sleeping and making his zzzzz...clicking snoring sounds. He's really not loud and turns over when I ask. I also have ear plugs. He's not the problem; I am.

What is the 5-HPT mentioned? I do have 5 ambien tabs I can take if I have an early teaching day. Thankfully, Tues-Thurs., I have only afternoon classes. The Ambien works well, but I don't want to depend on it after reading the literature.

Has anyone tried the new sleeping medication [name??] being advertised on television these days? They claim it is not habit forming. If this keeps up, I'm asking about it.

I about to try again to sleep. I pray you ladies are enjoying blissful, dreamless and non-wakeful sleep during the night hours.

Take good care.

Sleepless in Stanley

No matter what time I go to bed I'm waking up between 4-6AM. This is NOT my usual rising time. Last night I didn't get to sleep till nearly 3 and still woke up at 6:30. I try to go back to sleep about 9AM, and sometimes get a couple hours more.

I don't feel tired or sleepy...just bored and aggravated.I guess I'll have to talk to the Dr. about it. Thanks for bring it up.

As I mentioned I take Melatonin 1 MG, which your body produces. You can take up to 3 tabs about 30 minutes before bedtime. I take 2, however that was not working well for me so I added 5-HTP 30MG and I take 2 of these along with my Melatonin. Melatonin is a natural sleep substance that we produce. Both of these can be found at GNC or any health food store.

Is anyone else not sleeping?

I tried something new last night. I bought valerian drops which equalled 1000mg in 28 drops and took my Sleepy Time tea and my mag/cal/d supp. Since I had a ton of caffeine yesterday I didn't sleep too well, but today I am totally refreshed as if I had. Today I haven't had any caffeine (didn't need it) and will see how I do on that combo minus the coffee. Take care everyone and sleep well,
Tara
