looking for good news

I had a lavh-lso on Jan 22nd, my gyn tells me that the one ovary I still have will take over for the left one that has been removed and everything should be fine. I had horrible periods coupled with pms before the surgery and have been told by several women with the same experience they were much better off after surgery. However, after reading some of the conversations,I am concerned about a compromised sex life and emotional trouble. Has anyone had a positive experience they are willing to share??? Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had a TAH with one ovary left on 12-4-06. The worst thing for me has been the restrictions , not being able to drive for four weeks, not being able to work for 8 weeks, and getting really tired. The only emotional problems that I have had is wanting to be completely recovered. You know, able to work at full speed, lifting.
As far as my sex life. It was great before and I was allowed to resume sex at six weeks. Other than being nervous the first few times that it would hurt or that maybe stitches would tear, it has been great. The only difference is no pain afterward.
That is my positive experience

Hi !! I'm 46, had TAH with one ovary/tube removed and I feel great. My hormones feel very balanced and I've had no problems. My sex life has always been good, but it's better than ever now that I never have to say "no", LOL.

Hi vanillafizz,

I'd like to share with you that I was a very slow healer after my TAH and wasn't able to resume sex with dh until about 10 weeks after surgery . I was so nervous because I was worried about maybe having a decreased drive. So many Sisters had problems with that so I wasn't very confident about these issues! I was also very worried about what my dh would think about the new cuff.

I'm so happy to say that things went even better than planned. The anxiety disappeared when I realized that for the first time ever I didn't have any pain with sex. It had been such a standard part of my life before the hyst that it never occured to me that I could be pain-free!

I do have both ovaries, but they aren't cooperating right now and I'm using a very low-dose estrogen patch. At first I didn't like the idea (I'm 32) but as soon as it started working I didn't give it a second thought. If you would find things aren't working as well as you'd like, don't hesitate to call your doctor as he or she can be a great partner in helping you feel your best.

Also, please remember there are so many success stories out there about these issues - it's mostly just the problems we hear about here. Please don't get discouraged - this could very possibly be an unexpected, brand new, wonderful chapter of your life! Remember, we're here for you.
