Anyone have to do liquid diet before castle visit????

I am just curious who has had to do a liquid diet before surgery. I started mine today and Surgery is Thursday. Wednesday I have this totally wonderful all day bowel prep (seems like anyway). Check this out: 8am I have to take some tablet called reglan, at 10 am magnesium citrate, at noon take another reglan tablet, at 5pm take another reglan tablet and also dulcolax, at 9pm enema and at 10pm betadine douche. Fun city!! Oh well, it will be over soon. Anyone else?

Yep! I had to do clear liquid diet the day before surgery, drink the mag. citrate, douche & enema! And drink 2 bottles of gaterade! And nothing w/red dye!

I dreaded that day more than the surgery day! But it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. The mag. citrate actually took almost 5hrs to do anything. But then I spent about 5hrs with the results!

Good luck!

Liquid diet

I had surgery last Thursday. My last solid meal was Monday night. Did a Fleets prep on Tuesday (pills, liquid and suppository), and only clear liquids on Wednesday. It was hell for me.

Hi

Yes, I started my bowel prep a couple of days before surgery in both cases. I did get hungry, but I had some interesting liquids. They didn't care what color fluids I drank - only time I was told that was when I had a colonoscopy. Sounds like your doctor really wants you cleaned out, though. Just remember it's for your own good!!
