PCOS - anyone get rid of ovaries? better or not?

Hi. I've got PCOS and was wondering...

What if I just got the suckers taken out?

Have any of you ever tried this (voluntarily or not)? Anyone with PCOS have a total hyst. and have results from the PCOS symptoms being any better or worse? (no more beard, weightloss, etc.) I know if something is working correctly, it may not be the best idea to have it removed for no reason, but if they're malfunctioning?

I have no desire to ever get pregnant - in fact, I'm considering getting a partial hyst. for problems, anyway, and I already have to take thyroid hormones forever, so (maybe) adding a treatment for 20 years wouldn't be that big of a deal (I can hope... more research needed, of course).

Thank you in advance for your replies!

Niki (aindava)

Hi Niki I have no experience personally with PCOS, but wanted to point you towards the information in this thread:

Especially the post by StampinCat... it has a great explanation about PCOS after a hyst (yes, a hyst and even ovary removal does not cure PCOS).

I hope this helps... good luck with your decision!
s,
-Linda
