I have been having a lot of problems this week with swelling. I am scheduled for surgery June 13th. Did anyone ever just start swelling. I am miserable and feel like I am sore in stomach in different areas.

Hi-Don't have fibroids so I can't answer you for sure! I have endo and I do swell like that though. But thought you needed a bump!
Good luck and call you DD if it gets any worse!

fibroids
I'm not sure where you are referring to the swelling taking place. I also have multiple fibroids, and certain times of month, my stomach swells so bad, trying to wear my regular clothes is out of the question. This past week, every part of the my body seemed to swell, including my fingers - couldn't get my wedding ring on. It's better now, but that sorta freaked me out.

Hormonal?
Every month, a couple of weeks before my periods (and of course coinciding with my PMS) I swell up like a balloon. My belly is so big I look 6 months pregnant and my hands a feet swell up too. With me it's hormonal...as soon as my period comes I pee for three days straight. Could it be the same for you? Fibroids have can affect hormones, can't they?

fibroids
Last December, I had my surgery for fibroids and yes, I swelled. I would swell PMS and while I was bleeding. I was constantly asked when I was "due"
Yes fibroids can affect hormones, they affected mine. Swelled joints is also a symptom of anemia, which is fairly common with fibroids 'cause of the heavy and frequent bleeding.

fibroids
Yes, I think that the swelling has a lot to do with the fibroids. I wasn't aware though that the swelling could have something to do with anemia. I will have to discuss this with my primary doctor when I return to him. We have been trying to figure out my swelling for almost a year now because it has gotten so bad that we were very concerned. My worst areas were my ankles and hands, but I of course had the tummy that was swollen from the fibroids. I am now five days post-op and of course am still swollen in the tummy but can't wait for that feeling to go away!
Take care of yourself, you will be amazed how quickly this month will go before your surgery and make sure the family takes care of you upon your return!

Swelling
It was one week ago that I had TAH/BSO. I feel great. I also swelled before my surgery. I have swelled for years, but thought it was because of having three kids and weight gain. I am still not sure but I do know that my stomach is already smaller now than before I had the surgery. I had many golf ball size fibroids, endometriosis, adenomyosis and cyst. I also can't wait to see how much smaller my belly will get.

fibroids
Hi!
I'm scheduled for June 4 and I haven't worn my rings for months now. I'm overweight by lots so I assumed maybe that was part of it, but come to think of it how come only now? My feet and ankles were very swollen with this last period to. I have one enormous sized fibroid which will be out with a vertical incision.

Clarification
Linda: I just wanted to clarify a little about my statement regarding anemia and swelling.
That statement is based on my experience at the castle: the night of my surgery, at one point, I noticed that my hands and fingers were EXTREMELY swollen, as well as discolored (very pale, bluish transparency to them). When I called the nurse, thinking this was a side effect of the morphine/demerol mix I was on, she examined my hands and said that this was due to the extreme blood loss.
I then added 2+2 and realized that I had felt that way, swollen hands and fingers, for the last few weeks before my surgery, coinciding with a monster period that lasted 8 weeks.
Hence, I deducted that blood loss and anemia can equal swelling of the joints.
I don't know if it can account for abdominal swelling.

fibroids
Hi, just wanted to tell you my fibroids did cause major swelling for me, not only in my waistline, but even in my legs. By 3 PM each day, I was so swollen, I'd have to put on my nice, loose pajamas. I was also always cold, my feet were freezing, even with 2 pair of sox on and some slippers. I'm 7 weeks post op now, and not swelly half as bad as I was before, and my feet are not as cold either!
