High fevers at 4 weeks post -op...unrelated?

Saturday started feeling really achy...keep getting high fevers close to 102 and sometimes higher. Also have extreme chills, headache and jaw pain. Thinking to far along to be related...but no other symptoms. Thoughts?

Please call your doctor promptly! You could have an infection of some sort and this is nothing to fool around with! Fever and chills are not part of normal recovery. It could be something else but I would definitely not chance it. I ended up with a wound site infection 3 weeks post-op and thought the fever and chills I was having were just hot flashes and night sweats bombarding me all at once. Please call!

yes please call your doctor. one week after my surgery had fever & abnormal pain, had a abscess the size of a grapefruit in pelvic area. spent 5 days with drain & antibiotics back in hospital. home now & doing much better but better to just get check out to be sure. feel better soon

I had a post op kidney infection at 4 weeks. My doc said I most likely got a UTI from the catheter during surgery and it didn't get diagnosed and moved into my kidneys. I thought all the symptoms I was having were aches and pains and urination issues from the surgery. I'd go to the ER if I was you, or call the doc first thing in the morning .I hope your feeling better soon.

I agree with sisters above. You should call your doctor. A fever is an indication of an infection somewhere, and you recently had a major surgery. I pray that it nothing, but don't wait.

Thanks all. Called and they said its probably a flu bug. Keeping up with fluids, tylenol, and ibuprofen.

I'd watch closely for any other symptoms.That's an awfully high fever and makes me nervous it could be something else besides the flu. Has anyone around you had the flu recently?Rest up and get well soon.
